New Here

by ReachtotheStarsComment Published at 15:1915:194 comments4 comments19 Visits19 VisitsReport

Hi,

My name is Krista.  I am a young mom.  I started cloth diapering my son at about 10 months old.  We spent his Christmas money on cloth because we could no longer afford disposables.

He is now 20 months Autistic with cognative around 4-6 months, so won't be potty training for a while.  Feel free to ask about me I have used all kinds of different cloth diapers.

Starting cloth

by ecmdComment Published at 21:4921:493 comments3 comments41 Visits41 VisitsReport

Hi,

we are considering putting our 13 month old in Modern cloth cos disposables are costing a fortune.

I have no idea where to start.

What do I need where do I get it.

What would be the best brand to get?

How many do I need?

She usually goes through about 4 disposables a day.

Please help me out thanks.

Considering cloth

by mumof2bComment Published at 17:0217:025 comments5 comments47 Visits47 VisitsReport

Hi everyone!

As you all know I'm having twins, due in July. I'm seriously considering using cloth  for both money saving reasons and the fact that I'll be home ALOT (lol), so will have plenty of time to get the hang of them and wash etc as there will be double. I'm just after some help with what I'll need and where to get them, hopefully cheap as I'll need double quantity. I used cloth with my first child but they were just the flat terry cloth ones, then went onto disposables with my second for convenience, so I really have no idea when it comes to all these new cloth ones on the market.

Nappy Cleaners

by masonfamilyComment Published at 16:5016:505 comments5 comments62 Visits62 VisitsReport

Hi everyone, was just wondering what everybody used to get the nappies white and bright? I use napisan Oxy Action and Sunlight soap for the real tough stains. I also put Dettol in the rinse cycle but lately I havent been able to get them really white. I was thinking maybe because my babies are eating a different variety of food so their no:2's are... shall we say stronger!!!

I use alot of elbow grease but they still wont budge. What would you recommend? Any advice or stories are greatly appreciated.

Peace Hannah

People's Reaction to cloth nappies

by masonfamilyComment Published at 01:2401:247 comments7 comments97 Visits97 VisitsReport

Hi everyone, just wanted to say, its great that cloth nappies are still around. I always have people sounding really surprised that I use them for my babies. Especially as I have been using them since my 1st born and she is 6 now. Have 4 babies all up and the last 2 are still in them. I find it less expensive then disposables and I'm a stay at home mum so my life revolves around my children so doing extra laundry is nothing to me. I have been finding it hard to find pilchers because hardly anyone uses cloth nappies anymore so they are not stocking them anywhere but Kmart. Once again, good on all of you parents who still use them for your bubs.

Hannah

P.S

Love the new designs of the nappies in past posts.

Look what happens when all the nappies are dry.

Usually bring in nappies as they dry but being so warm most were dry at once.

WHAT A GREAT GROUP!

by winjaComment Published at 23:2823:289 comments9 comments45 Visits45 VisitsReport

wow this group is great im so glad i found it! kym you shoudlve added a link to this group in my B board q you silly thing lol

ive been using washables for quite awhile, i was using biodegradle nappies and washables buit ive switched to full time washables now and havent looked back.

ive used 100%cotton flats only untill recnetly when tobias started waking overnight at crazy hours and got himself a really bad case of nappy rash (all cleared up in a day mummy is slightly paranoid methinks!) and i am testing different MCN right now.

i have two babybeehinds one of the minkee ones and a normal one for nights and il be adding to my stockpile weekly or fortnightly depending on my finances. ive found that tobias doesnt actually pee enough to use the bamboo insert with the babybeehind overnight so im now using the inserts with his flats and that works great!

i am having a difficult time finding the really trendy nappies (you know like thomas and stuff lol) in a large size? where do you all get the large ones? i really really want some super cute ones for during the day.

ps second hand or new doesnt matter to me, i wash things lol

Hello to all

Hi people's

I'm just new to this site and love cloth nappies.  I generally use cloth folded through the day and baby beehinds pre-mades during the night.  I went to the trouble of making my own liners with microfibre and a normaly cloth back and have been grateful ever since.

Anyway just thought I should introduce myself.

love to all VM

HELP!! OUR CLOTH NAPPIES ARE NOT WORKING - REPELLING LIQUID!!!

by MotherofJWEComment Published at 16:3916:396 comments6 comments219 Visits219 VisitsReport

HELP!!  Our son's pocket nappies (microfleece lining) nappies are repelling liquid!  We do occasionally use pure lanolin as a nappy "cream" so there may be some residue from this on thye nappies. I may also have been using a little too much detergent.

I have done several hot rinses yet they still repel. Have tried washing them in dishwashing liquid - still repel.  I no longer add vinegar to the final rinse as I was concerned this might not have been good for the elastic in our pocket nappies. Is this happening because I have stopped using vinegar?

Any other suggestions for stripping the nappies?

Nappies for sale

A friend of mine has just started selling nappies on ebay.  They are a system she has used for years, that come from Japan.  So many people have asked her about them she has decided to sell them in Australia - and they seem very reasonable to me.  So drop by and have a look - and email her with any questions....
