Where to begin?

by fairymama25Comment Published at 00:2600:263 comments3 comments30 Visits30 VisitsReport

Hi, Im pregnant with number 2 and always regretted not using real nappies with my first. Just wanted some advice over what to go for, there are so many different types! I think I want one that has the nappy that you then cover with a wrap. Could anyone recommend brands? My first daughter was tall and slim (as am I and my hubby..well i am when Im not pregnant!). Also which is better, dispoasble or washable liners?

Last questions... Can one size nappies really last from birth to potty? Or are they too bulky for a newborn? Is it better to get a brand that has a number of sizes?

Many thanks, Em xx

Re: Where to begin?

I have tried normal cloth squares - actually I used them for both of my kids until about 3 weeks ago when I finally got enough pocket & all-in-one nappies to get my 16 month old through each day. I have 2 different kinds of pocket nappies & must say that Bum Genius are the best as they grow with your baby & aren't too bulky on the smaller size. I also love the all-in-ones I have, they are Magicalls but you have to get different sizes in those ones.

I must say that the all-in-ones or pocket nappies are definetly the best way to go.

I am also considering using re-usable nappies so I would also be interested in the questions asked above.

It was my intention to use cloth nappies(terry towelling).I bought 40 of them cos I had twins. What an absolute nightmare. It was horrendous.Soaking, sluicing etc it certainly wasn't for me.Give me disposables anyday.I'm all for saving the environment ,but I just couldn't get to grips with them.
