Sunlight - if I can find any! I dont wet pail any more, and rarely use detergent (switched to wash balls) so mostly I'm pragmatic about stains - after all, no-one sees the inside of the nappies except me. And most of them are brightly coloured fleece. But the wash balls do as good a job as the detergent IMO and I REALLY dont miss wet pailing.

I use Aldi brand nappy soaker over night, giving them a squelch with my hands a few times during the night if I remember, and they usually come up a treat, but I know what you mean about no 2's being stronger!! Sometimes it takes a couple of washes, and a few really long hangs in the sun (Horror of horrors if there is no sun to be had!!).

Sunshine is the best thing for these stains...you will never completely get them out by washing but sunlight will fade them fast so make sure you hang them out in the sun whenever you can. Also putting some vinegar in the wash with them helps.
