| Flybabies
Some of us on Minti have discovered the Flylady website to help us develop the skills and strategies to organise our lives and clean our homes. This group is for Minti Flybabies to encourage each other on our path to better organised homes and lives.
We know that sometimes we will slip backwards and that is ok. We are all here to encourage each other and share our successes and stumbles.
I found Flylady after reading Frontier's article Getting Things Done a bit at a time. A few weeks later I was inspired to write Let the Flylady help you get organized to cruise through Christmas. Through these articles other members also found Flylady and the suggestion was made to start this group.
Since this group was started another member has written a great article on adapting the Flylady's advice
If you are interested in joining please check out the website and sign up to recieve the yahoo emails.

Hey I have just joined the flylady site, and reading Adapting Flylady's advice...I think this is a great idea, just waiting to confirm my email to the yahoo flylady group so I can get started too |

My hubby mentioned to his mom that I have subscribed to the FlyLady and tried to explain it to her. He didn't do a good job, but I admire him for mentioning it because she needs it! My in-laws are such pack rats, it's unbelievable. Their basement is full of my husband's and his sister's old toys.. and I mean old! One of their bedrooms is unusable because that's where things are crammed in. Their attick is overflowing! Her bathroom has medicines that are 2-3 year old!
My mother in law is a great woman. We absolutely get along, but her house is in need of some intervention. I know this is morbid, but we will be the ones to have to go through her things when she passes on.
I wonder how we can introduce her to the FlyLady? I'm thinking of just sending her an email about it, but that may not be such a good idea. Maybe it'll be better if my husband does it. Hmmm. I'll urge him to email her and hopefully she starts flying with the FlyLady. |

I should be into my own place this weekend so I will be taking the flylady into affect. |

I haven't been following the FlyLady's orders closely lately, but I must say one thing, it's still working!
My master bathroom is a magical room. Even if I clean it from top to bottom and put medicines in their right place, they sneak out at night and spread themselves all over the countertop. I think the longest it had stayed clean is 1 week. Well, it's been 3 weeks since I started the FlyLady and my bathroom is still clean. Woo hoo! I think seeing it clean is doing my husband good too. HE's actually putting the meds he uses back to where they come from.

Well my sink shines sometimes... my laundry gets done most days. i declutter 15 minutes a day... maybeonce a week though. Not off to the best start, but i had a HUGE interruption jsut when i was getting into it! my mother and five of her kids showed up for the week. YIKES! starting to get back into the swing of things though :) |

Here goes.. I've not been able to keep things up this past few days. I'm blaming the weather, since it's been rainy and cold. I need the sun!
I've been keeping the sink empty before I go to bed, but during the day when I cook, I just leave the dishes on the countertops. Seeing them everywhere makes me feel like a failure! I need a swift kick on the butt.
On a good note, the hubby and I dropped by the local Good Will center and dropped of a lot of stuff in the weekend.
I've also been behind in my laundry. I try to get a load in, but I don't get to put it away until the next day...

I've been tackling my paper clutter for the past few days and a couple of days I found a check for over $100, dated more than 3 months ago (already expired). It was a per diem check for my husband's business trip. Thankfully, the human resources were pretty nice and reissued us the check.
Today I am continuing the project and found a check for over $250 from our mortgage company for overfunding our escrow. The check is dated last year!!! I will be severely upset if this check is not reissued. Mind you, this check is not from a never-opened envelope. It's been open and been filed away as a bank statement. ARGH!
Let this be a lesson to me to never let the paper clutter get out of hand. |

I tried wearing lace up shoes for a while, but I was finding it uncomfortable to get down on the floor to play with Arianna. I wanted shoes I could slip off and on easily. I looked all over the place and finally someone mentioned the crocs that seem to be all the rage right now. They are actually gardening shoes, but everyone is wearing them. I picked up a pair of knock-offs and I love them! They are very comfortable and I have no trouble keeping them on my feet all day, except when it's time to play on the floor. I only wear them inside. My feet and legs haven't been sore I got them.
Just another adaptationion to FlyLady's ideas. |

Over the weekend I didn't get any emails from the FlyLady. Since it was my first weekend after starting, I thought... hmm, a break on the weekends? It turns out, yahoo hostaged my emails. I got all the weekend mails today, so I missed out on vacuuming every inch of my livingroom on Sunday. Maybe I'll do it sometime this week.
Last night I didn't shine my sink. Thankfully, I didn't cook anything complicated so there was not much dishes. I put the dishes in the dishwasher so the sink is empty... just not shiny.
I'm also finding myself do more stuff in the late afternoon/evening. So my morning routine is not so morning...but I am getting them done though.
On a happy note, my first floor is fairly company ready. Well, let me be specific.. if a neighbor were to pop in because she has to use my bathroom because hers broke, then I'm ready. I'm not ready to invite someone overnight though. |
