My little man is experiencing diffilculties talking. He is going to have hearing tests and see a speach therapist I was just wondering how much other 2005 babies are saying.

My son will be 23 months this month born in april 2005. He also didnt really talk much apart from car. he doesnt say mum and has never said nan.

I contacted my clinic nurse who put me in touch with a hearing specialist to get his hearing checked and the clinics speech pathologist.

I also decided to put im into daycare at the start of this year and since then he has started to really improve. Before he was only really muffling. It sounded like he was trying to tell me somethg but never opend his mouth to talk and just muffled all the time. Now he is really improving and saying things like dubbie which ses to mean a few different things such as stop it or ta please. Im still getting his hearing checked but im so glad he is improving now. Because I am a sinle mum all he sees is me and my mum and didnt really interact with other kids. Now he is in dayare he is alot more social and alot more aproachable as he would get upset when people approache him before even my brother.

Im not saying daycare is the answer but if your son isnt ineracting with other kids now maybe it could be a good idea for him. It also gives you a litle rest.

Hope this helps

talking
My son is 21 months and hardly says anything!  He only just started saying anything at all about 3 weeks ago.  He says "boohbah" the most which is embarassing because people think he is parked in front of the tv all day - he isn't!!!

My son is now 22 months old and can say a lot, but not too clear. I've seen other kids his age who can say things very clearly. I used to worry, but not anymore since he is progressing and apparently still on track.

My son can say a lot of words, but only the beginning. For example, do=dog, moh=milk, ah=eyes, know=nose. The hubby and I figured that he has about more than 50 words now. He has also started string two words together like, do gone=dog is gone.

There are a few articles here on Minti on what is on track as far as speach development goes at this age. I suggest checking them out. Also, we have a resident speech pathologist (MumKim) if you want to get some general info.

don't worry too much
My little guy was born in june making him 19 months now and he can say mum and dad but not singularly eg he says mumumumumum/dadadadadadad. Otherwise he only links sounds together like baga, daba etc. He has only just attempted saying a new word - quack but it comes out guk. I also have a nephew who didn't talk until he was 3 years old. Especially if he is your first as he only has you to imitate whereas a second, third etc child has a sibling or siblings to imitate also.
