And what first attracted you to them?
I hadn't seen my sis in about 12 years, I got back in contact with her, moved in and Shayne was living with her. The morning she picked me up I caught him running from his room to the bathroom (or back I can't remember) in nothing but a towel. How's that for a first impression? Any hoo, once I got to know him, I would say it was his sense of humor and his ability to have great interesting conversations. After several occasions of limited inhibitions we hooked up and that was almost four years ago now. |

Re: How'd you meet your partner?
I met my hubby at a Cajun Dance. I thought he was the weirdest, clumsiest, most socially inept man I had ever had the misfortune to be dumped with. I had gone to the dance at a friends insistance. He was on a climbing weekend and been dragged along by his buddy. Our friends hit it off and we were left to get on with it. I spent twenty minutes having a one sided conversation, while he spent it trying to upright all the drinks he kept knocking over. I realised this was going to be a long evening, I did not want to be there, but I was chief driver. So I thought, right make the best of this kid, dance the night away. So I trawled this poor terrified chap onto the dance floor and got the shock of my life. Blow me down if he was not the best dancer ever, and the guy could'nt shut up turned out we had loads in commom and shared the same interests. By the end of the evening we were best buds. Turned out he had Aspergers, which caused him socially to gaff and an inability to show empathy. Two years later in 1999 we married. To me and our children he is the most caring, thoughtful, funny, socially inept and clumsiest geek we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. We love him to bits.

Re: How'd you meet your partner?
I met mine briefly one year at Bathurst when we were working with the helicopter flights. I was up there with a mate of mine, and I vaguely remember thinking - 'cor he's hot and he has the best smile - wish I was younger'. We got along ok, however I never thought of him again, as I was sure he was still in high school or something - he was too friendly and funny to be older.
The next year I was standing in the field the helicopters land in, and this shadow came across the sun, then a large figure on a mountain bike nearly bowled me over, and swung round behind me. I swung round with my fist clenched and looked into these massive baby blues, and this huge grinning smile. This cute guy was there, framed by the sun looking all angelic, talking a mile a minute to stop me from going off. He seemed to know my friend's, and acted like he knew me.
He asked me what I was doing that night - I said staying home with my friend's (I only flew up that day after a BIG night out and forgot to bring any money or a key card). He said, you're coming out with me - I'll pick you up at 8... I was like yeah sure, if you make it on time, I'll come out... Well we went out, at about 1am, I was looking at his licence and realised that he lied about his age, and suddenly I went - OMG, I KNOW you... He was like yes, of course you do, and I said no, we met last year - he thought that I had known who he was all along - wrong.
Well that ended up being a date for the entire weekend, and the last 4 years - that is how I got my toy boy (who is turning 26 in a couple of weeks - he thought he was turning 27 LOL!).
