Early bird.....or sucker for punishment?

by ph419alwaysComment Published at 05:1805:1810 comments10 comments51 Visits51 VisitsReport

Okay - I am sitting here after 10pm, absolutely exhausted but refusing to surrender to sleep just yet. Why? Cause I treasure this time at night when everyone is in bed except me because it's the only 'Me' time I get where I am not expecting someone to wake up at any moment. My daylight 'me' time is usually short and filled with things that are easier to do while little kiddies are in bed so they're not really a chance to relax and do my own thing......so I tend to stay up rather late and avoid going to bed just to enjoy this quiet uninterrupted time to myself.

The bad side of this is that I'm up around 7am, so I don't get much sleep this way, which means by the end of the week I'm really knackered!

What do you guys do? Go to bed in time to get a good sleep.......or stay up like me enjoying the time of peace and quiet?

I treasure my sleep time, having one kid makes things easy..  He is usually in bed by 8 and I stay up till about 10pm.  We are usually awake between 6.30 - 7am.   I don't mind I still get my ME TIME even though my partner goes to bed after me some nights

I do enjoy my "me time" however I also enjoy my sleep time so I usually go to bed the same time the kids do and then lay in bed watching t.v. until I get tired enough to go to sleep and then turn the t.v. off.

Sucker for punishment!  My three keep us both on the go all day (my husband has sever anxiety and depression, and is not currently able to work, so he's home all day too) and none of them like having naps, so when every one is finally asleep at night he and I will usually curl up together on the couch and watch Eureka or NCIS or Bones or something, and we'll stager off to bed at around 11ish!

Re: Early bird.....or sucker for punishment?

HAHAHAHA I love this question.. best one on Minti so far. LOL

Nah, I'm definitely a sucker for punishment. LOL

All my life, I've been an insomniac..
I've always had trouble sleeping..
I'd need the TV or music to sleep; or I'd pass out after hours of the net.. or studying, then I'd fall asleep on top of my school books. LOL

I don't enjoy the process of "going to sleep" so I generally wait till I'm so dead that I can't keep my eyes open, that I go to bed. lol
If I sleep any earlier, I end up rolling around in bed FOR HOURS AND HOURS.. lol

But yeah, my daughter sleeps for at least 12 hours straight a night (without waking), so me and my hubby LOVE the alone time..
Plus, he works late, so he gets home at 11.30pm sometimes..
And I end up waking up at 8am everyday, for Alisha. lol

I try my best to rest during the day, when Alisha is playing around..
And I always nap, when she naps :)
I always make sure I rest when I can, especially being pregnant now :)

I like to think though.. you can get back sleep, but you can't get back time with your family :)

Hmmm... let me figure this out mathematically using time as my reference point...

My last comment before heading to bed last night was at 5.41am, and my first comment after waking up was at 8.58am...

HI! My name is DA and I'm a minti addict!!! I'm going to blame Matthew and Clay for stealing my coke zero and leaving me with nothing else to be addicted to!!!

In reality... insomnia + bordom + housebound + net access + a computer that doesn't work properly for most things but minti = being here waaaaay too much.

Me and the hubby go to bed really late, mostly because of his job though - he works second shift. We have trained the kids around it though. They go to bed later then most kids, so they get up later. Don't know what is going to happen next year though, when Solomon starts school.

Re: Early bird.....or sucker for punishment?

i used to go to sleep between 12 and 2. only to have to get up about 8. im now in bed buy 9 and asleep around 11. i get up about 8 (as do my kids) and usually im good, except for pregnancy tiredness that consumes my body. i hate it. i wish i was an early bird, cause the days im up really early are the days i feel the best! but making myself wake at that time everyday is impossible. i just cant d it!

Nah I'm like you and I curse my stupidity as I struggle through the week tired - doesn't help I have a son who I swear is an insomniac - he'll be in bed at 8 and still calling out to me at 10.30-11.00 - then in my bed at 4am and awake at 8....   grrrr....  so "me" time seems to be between 11-12 when I should be asleep - AAAGHHH!
