psycho-somatic symptoms in children??

by lamb101Comment Published at 03:4103:410 comments0 comments102 Visits102 VisitsReport

hi there
i am having difficulties with my daughters asthma attacks right @ present.
last night she had 1 @ 5am the usual where it takes going to see some-one.
i rang the dr's @ 8am made the first available time & she was booked in for 10am.
the Dr saw & put her on the Neb's as i didn't want to go straight to hospital as usual so i went this way to see if i could avoid going to hospital & ending up in.
he told me that she was to come back later in the day & get a re-check & see how she was as to weather to take her to the hospital A&E/ E.D.
i went & got the script for her antibiotics & all for ear infection etc...
mum took her to the warehouse across the rd fro a drink as the car was parked @ the warehouse.
by the time i got their grace had got worse & so off to the dr's again & wah lah what happened sent in the ambulance & off to hospital A&E/ E.D. where we were sent to the PAU (paeds assessment unit).
when we got to PAU i turned to mum & asked if it were poss that this was a poss psycho-somatic episode so to speak.
right the story goes like this grace is 3yrs old & has had asthma since she was 1yrs old, grace ha been in CYPS care where she was placed with careers for basically the past 6months & of the 6 months has been coming home for 4 nights & going to kindy on wed am.
when she has been @ the careers she is fine & NO Asthma etc... yet when she comes home she tends to get Asthma & sick,
i have gone from top to toe of the house no-one smokes in the home & it's warm with heating & wheat bags in her bed before she goes to bed so the bed is warmed up.
so there is nothing else i can put my finger on to be able to make things change which brings me to poss in the thinking she maybe psycho-somatic to some degree.
i maybe totally off the mark I'm not sure.
from what i understand from a website i just looked into tonight some of the things i mentioned sound like it is poss this is what it is.

1)is it poss to have a child @ aged 2 - 3 yrs with psycho-somatic symptoms?

2)does any-one have any idea's what i can try with a child like this?

any advise please & all comments welcome thanks.
thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I'm having a why me moment kids are driving me mad and today there is no relief I'm angry at their father for leaving me to do this on my own not at all logical because it's not as though he had any choice he was killed in a work accident Aug 10 2006 my kids are 4 and 6 and I have never felt so alone in all my life. I also am hating xmas because it means a family get together which makes the fact that Glen is not there all the more hard to take. But I am doing a good job (i hope) of pretending to love xmas for the girls, when all I really want to do is forget about the whole damm thing. Thats really awful is'nt it, but I just miss him so bloody much, I just want him to put his arms around me and tell me it's gonna be ok. I just tired lonely angry and empty all at once I HATE BLOODY XMAS. thanks for listening              And a great big thumbs up to all those single mums out there this is a really hard job and I still have trouble coming to terms with thefact I am a part of this club.

We parents should be allowed to do our job!!

I am a good mum and I won’t let anyone make me feel like I am doing any less than what I feel is best for my own son. As a mother of an active two and a half year old I am continually confronted with people who wish to assert their authority and discipline my child, even while I’m talking to him, and attempting to redirect his behaviour myself. I don’t care how well meaning these people believe themselves to be, these people should just butt out. It is demoralizing and makes parents feel that they aren’t doing a good enough job. These people need to get off their high horse and allow parents to retain the responsibility for disciplining their own children. How are children supposed to learn self-discipline if they aren't first disciplined by their own parents?

Every fortnight i go to town and what do you know a bottle of milk gone up 30 cents, fruit and veges through the roof and meat well mince and sausages are about the only thing you can afford. Homebrand products not on the shelf i have to opt for the more expensive less food you can get. They could let us know of the price increase no they dont put up a sign i didnt have time to look at small tag look at prices find out the hard way at the checkout. I am sure you all have this problem but it really gets to me they tell you to eat heathy but at $6.98 a kg for broccoli how can you afford enough to feed 9 people. A lady that works there told us they put most prices up 10 percent every fortnight.

Bought our daughter a dress for her last year of primary school for year 7, went to the op shop found a beautiful dress fo $5.00 never worn and nice shoes for $4.00 thank god for 2nd hand shops.

NEARLY ANOTHER YEAR OVER 6 WEEKS HOLIDAYS TO LONG FOR KIDS THEY GET SO BORED GOT ANY IDEAS  FOR THAT LONG PERIOD OF TIME WITH LITTLE COST.

Advertising near schools! & Child care!

by nae-ayeComment Published at 08:0808:081 comments1 comments86 Visits86 VisitsReport

1... I drive to work between 7:45am and 8:30am monday to friday and pass a primary school.  I watched the kids walking to school and was thinking how cool it is for kids to go to school.  Then to my anger saw signs of Alcohol advertisments all up the oppisite side of the street 6-9 of them.  Everybody knows the dangers of alcohol and all the undesirable behaviours that effect people who consume it.  WHY is this kind of advertising allowed any were near the school?  I have rung a few places to see what I can do about this and I will get something done.  Am I over reacting?

2...  I gave my 2 weeks notification of tremination of care of my child to the daycare center.  Paid all the outstanding blance plus the 2 weeks.  I assumed they would automaticly cancell my direct debt payments thats why we have to give 2 weeks.  BUT no I was told I got to do that myself.  And now I have to wait for how ever long it takes them to give me my refund.  Also for the amount of money we pay for childcare fees, why havent the workers had a pay rise.  The workers arent paid engouh money for the amount of caring, compassion, educatoin and love they provide our children with.

Well Thanks for letting me get that off me chest. Cheers everyone. Yes I do feel better

From one driving mother to another... HELP

by incredimomComment Published at 16:4516:450 comments0 comments34 Visits34 VisitsReport

Hey y'all, so I am in the market for a new car (my current car needs a loan and a half to fill up at the pump). These are the two cars that caught my eye because they look nice and roomy for my little angels to ride in.  These are also the two that seem to be easier on the eyes and easier on my wallet as I am raising my babies on my own.

The two cars I was looking at were the Dodge Magnum and the Ford Freestyle; both 2005 models (that’s the year my oldest was born). They look nice all around (they look good on gas but they don’t look gimmicky or tank-like in shape).

Specifically, I would like to know how "kid friendly" these two are cars are. How easy would it be to put the car seats in? Can I fit more than one car seat? Would it be relatively easy to check on my angels as I am on the road? Their safety is my main concern... Mommy SOS

I'm back after not being able to write a blog for so long!!

by Roz69Comment Published at 18:5818:580 comments0 comments49 Visits49 VisitsReport

Hi to all my Minti friends,

Things are slowly getting back to normal around our house - I did think once - Would they ever get back to normal?

My hubby has been quite sick Easter - got better - went back to work - then his health concerns started all over again?!! He hasn't been able to work 'cause of it!! Which is not good as he has to see a specialist - but get an apptment  to see this specialist yet!!

There are days where he can hardly get out of bed - no energy!! His health concerns started from blood clots in his legs - went from bad to worse!! So now I'm doing things for both of us and getting the kids to school!! He has improved but he has to have an op to fix the prob, too!!

I'm so tired alot lately - try to rest during the day - but there is always plenty of things to do - household chores, things school related and generally just worrying about the bills to pay!!

There is days where I don't feel like getting out of bed myself - let alone - to do anything that I have to do - at the best of times!!

The kids have been at each other alot lately - mainly all school related problems coming home!! I just feel there are days where I get so weighed down by all this, too!! Know what I mean?!!

Then Centrelink seems to join in to make our lives more unbearable, too!! I'm under enough stress and worry regarding my hubby and kids and then they add to the pile - don't they?!!

Gee,I feel heaps better - getting that off my chest - so to speak today!!

When I start feeling that things are starting to get a little better - something always unravels my thoughts and feelings, too!! But I guess I still can say that I can still smile and have a good laugh when things do seem rather tough on all sides, too!!

Thanks for listening to me - so glad that there is MINTI - a most worthy webpage, too!!

If anyone has any thoughts on how to deal with anything that has happened to us - that it would be truly - fanastic!!

Cheers,Roz.
