Hi
I have joined here in the hope of "learning" how to home school
I have a daughter in year 11 and a son in year 9 that i wished now I had of homeschooled.
I am not making the same mistake with our 16 month old daughter.
I want to homeschool
The fact she has Cystic Fibrosis is another contributing factor of why we want to do this.
She will spend a lot of time in hospital as she gets older and miss out on a lot of schooling.  Even though there is a hospital school where she goes she will still miss out on a lot of classwork each admittance.
If we home school her we can continue her lessons all the time.
I feel the school system has failed my son who has recently been diagnosed as asperger syndrome.  He totally failed year 7 and yet they sent him off to high school knowing full well he could not cope.   Now we have our diagnosis for him he is getting a lot more help and intervention that he should have got years ago.

I have been trying since year 3 to have him kept back and repeat a grade but the school would not allow this.
They said his work was not far enough behind and he is jsut lazy......they threw him into the too hard basket and moved him up through the grades.
I have a few friends that home school and one that writes home schooling programs so we are a bit ahead of the eight ball so to speak.

I know i will need a lot of support and ideas as my daughter gets older and look forward to getting to know some home school mums and dads and learning how they started and their successes and failures and the traps to look out for

Thanks in advance
Luv Deb

Hi i need lots of info
hello blackwidowkate i find it so sad when i hear of a terrible school experience like what your son had... school can be fun but when it goes wrong it goes horribly wrong... i homeschool my son through kindy, we decided to do this because of a few reasons there is no bullies, no overworked and underpaid teachers or principals to deal with, and the lerning experience for the child is so much more tailored to suit and it's just loads of fun!!! i think that your decision to homeschool your daughter is a fantastic idea... especially because the times for homeschool can be worked so much easier around hospital times just be careful that you try to stick to a routine as much as possible hey... but any time you need to chat i's here hey :) kudos for taking the inicitive to tell the system where to go this time round...you also might want to chat to your son about this explaining that you did your best to help him but not to be jealous of the attention that you will be giving your daughter when you homeschool her... just a thought :) keep smiling cya
