You should be able to find some great books on child development at your local municipal library - especially if you live in a larger town. Often you can do a search on the library catalogue for books in other libraries and borrow them through interlibrary loans. Talk to the librarian and ask him/her what books he/she would recommend on early childhood education and development.

Read anything you can find on Montessori education, including biographies of Maria Montessori. She pioneered many of the educational methods and techniques used in schools across the world.

I have always found that providing a stimulating and busy environment, well stocked with resources and quality toys, an easy and effective way to promote even growth and learning across all development and curriculum areas.

Do you live in Australia? I have a suite of websites with hundreds of articles that you might find interesting, and I've written several booklets that I know would be helpful. Go to http://homeschoolaustralia.com and follow the links to my other websites.

Play is about the best education there is for children of all ages (adults too!). Play with your child LOTS and never feel guilty about the time you spend doing this. Don't worry too much about play with other children - naturally he should spend some time playing with other children, but time spent being and playing with his parents is more important at this age.

cheers
Beverley
