Calling all canadians .. question about the new budget here!!

by mommyofWHAComment Published at 08:3708:375 comments5 comments43 Visits43 VisitsReport
Wonder if anyone can tell me if the new child tax that was introduced of 2000 per child under 18 replaces our baby bonus, or is it up and above the existing baby bonus ( that would be nice!!!). I have looked on the govt website but didn't really explain it .. thanx, Lynn, mommy of Will, Hannah, and Ayla

new budget
The 2000 is a tax credit, and it starts in 2008. Basically, you'll get 310 $ extra on your tax return per child. And it doesnt replace the baby bonus.
It really is a bit misleading, eh? it makes it sound like we're going to get 2000$ but we're really not.

Ok well I am still confused lol ... so does this credit cancel out the 1200 they started last year for child care up to 6? Wow why cant they just leave well alone so people like me don't have to ask silly questions hahaha

haha, tax stuff is meant to be confusing, so they can rip us off!!
No, it doesn't affect family allowance, or the child care tax benifit.
I don;t understand why they dont just give us 5 or 6 grand a year per kid and just call it even! lol

Might of heard of it, but not sure
Hmmmm, I don't think I heard of it.
That would be nice, I could use that for her, especially since shes in dire need of some new  clothes LOL

There has to be a way for us to find out, I guess calling their 1-800 number which I can't remember what it is exactly.
