Mum took Alex and Connor to see the Spiderwick Chronicles the other day. Alex loved it, Connor enjoyed most of it but said some parts with the Goblins were a bit scary.

The Water Horse

by angiehComment Published at 18:4118:413 comments3 comments56 Visits56 VisitsReport

Thanks to my university alumni, I saw The Water Horse for free. This movie is suitable for both kids and adults alike. The Water Horse is basically a story based around the Loch Ness Monster. It's a really cute movie, but at the end it was a little predictable as it reminded me of Free Willy. But the beginning and middle parts of the movie were fantastic. And the water horse is so cute!

The Kite Runner

by angiehComment Published at 17:4517:453 comments3 comments42 Visits42 VisitsReport

The Kite Runner is a must see movie... compared to my previous entry about The Darjeeling Limited! The movie is based on a novel which I've never read before but the friend who I went to the movies with has read the book. And yes, it is another film you can find in independent and art house cinemas, but I think it is also going to be in the bigger cinemas?

The Kite Runner is about two boys who were best friends and grew up in Afghanistan. The Russians move in, and one of the boys and his dad escapes to America and the other boy and his dad stays in Afghanistan and they lead totally different lives. The boy (now a man) who moved to the USA has to go back to Afghanistan for his friend.

It was Hollywood-ed up, but it was still really interesting and something that made you think, what with the war in Afghanistan that we've just had (and I guess is still going).

The Darjeeling Limited

by angiehComment Published at 17:3817:380 comments0 comments50 Visits50 VisitsReport

I recently won a double pass to see an independent art house film called The Darjeeling Limited, which stars Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman. Natalie Portman is also in this film.

The movie is about 3 brothers who lead totally different lives, and travel around India trying to find spirituality as well as try to be brothers like how they used to be. They get into some mischevious adventures, and... obviously eventually bond at the end through some interesting circumstances.

I do like independent and art house movies, but this movie was really strange... yet intriguing.
