Re: i need advice kittens?

wait until u have had bubs. the fecal matter of cats is dangerous to inutero babies. but as soon as bubs is born your fine. unless you get your bf now to clean all fecal matter up. U cannot touch it at all.

ok in looking for cats. My pref is a female cat and a burmeses. i have a choc tort and she is the most affectiones can i have ever meet. she sits on hubbby and day and plays with the kids, she is great with the kids. they give her curry and she walks away when she has had enough. she is even good with Pia's 2 year who has a cat that lets her beat him up.

to get a burmese u are looking at about $300 and i would advise on getting them desexed as soon as you can. Yuna was 6months old when we had her done. you need a good cat box where they can do their business on or get the toilet seat. i have heard that works well but is about $70 to buy. in the long run a heap cheaper and u dont need to worry about the fecal matter.

you will get a kitten so the kitten food is advise and you can use lactose free  milk cause cats shouldnt drink normal milk as they are lactose intollerent. my cat likes water and only water specialy shower water so i always rinse the shower after i have had one.

decide weather u want a in door/out door or both cat. Yuna is a indoor cat and we have a harness so she can go outside. i personally dont agree with outdoor cats as they kill wildlife and cars kill them, as well as she is such a beautiful cat that i am scared someone will take her.

lastly you will need toys for them. we bought a wonderful cat scratcher off deals direct for $70 + $9.95 postage and handling. they have some beautiful ones on there, and they are a good 69-80% cheaper than pet stores (where my hubby worked the same one we bought was $200)

oh another thing you need to let the cat choose you.... Yuna was in the shop for 5 weeks and she adored Chris. she would parade againt the glass and he would in his lunch break go and pat her. she was the runt of the litter and we almost lost her when she was got home. we hand feed her and seringe her milk. needless to say she is very important to me.

me and my cat Yuna.

good luck with your choice

Re: i need advice kittens?

I love cats. Have always grown up with animals and I think it is great for kids to have pets.

But you have to keep in mind for you at the moment that pregnant women shouldnt clean up after cat poo. I found some great advice about this. You also have to be very carefull with if they are inside that they look for warmth to sleep and try to cuddle in with kids and babies which can also be dangerous. My cat used to sleep on my chest so we had to make him an outside cat when I had my daughter, he wasnt to impressed!!

But I think a kitten would be a great pet, and he is a great age for one too, my daughter is the same age and our dog is her best friend!

I dont think I actually helped with any of your questions, I personally think it doesnt matter which sex, but that you should get them desexed to stop unwanted pregnancies and to stop them wandering, or spraying!! A regular domestic cat would be fine, perhaps go to an animal shelter and see what they think would be good for you?

Good luck!

Re: i need advice kittens?

HIya

my hubby bought me a kitten lastt night, to cheer me up, so cute, i would recomond a kitten, but ive heard that they can be a bit dangerous to preg woman if your not used to cats. So i would talk to your midwife or doc about it first,, as something to do with there poo is dangerous for pregnant woman, also be extra cautious as to where is is allowed to go, we had a kitten that thrived on sleeping at the head of our babies bassinet, YEP, very scary, and a couple of close calls. But they are so cute indeed. Good luck
