Turns out, the World's Oldest Mom lied about her age.
Yes, Carmela Bousada is 67 years old, which makes her the world's oldest mom. But, she told the U.S. fertility clinic where she received treatment that she was 55 years old. Their cut off age for treating single women is 55.
Bousada told the Associated Press that she believes a woman should become a mom whenever she is ready to become a mom. She also acknowledged that maybe things weren't done the best possible way but that it was the only way to achieve her dream of becoming a mom.
I'm still mulling this one over.
The first thing that comes to mind is that her doctors were not working with an honest medical history, which put her and her unborn babies at an even greater risk--and she was already a risky mom-to-be if she was 55 years old. |
