A great place to tell others who have multiples what your experiences are. It always a help to know other people are going through the same trials and tribulations.

Hi Group- my name is Leah and I'm the proud mama of Rosemary and Lillian who are 6 months and one week old. I am new to minti but already love it. I've found some good advice for two issues I was having this weekend and both have now worked themselves out. I was just looking at pictures of them when they were little. I have a few tears in my eyes. It's amazing how fast they grow. I'm happy to have joined the group and look forward to meeting you as the time goes by. Rose is up now so off I go. :) |

There's Two to Wash
There's Two to dry
There's Two who Argue
There's Two who Cry
One's in the Mud having a Ball
The other holds a Crayon, another marked Wall
Some days seem endless
My Patience Grows Thin
Why was I chosen to be a Mother of Twins?
The Answer Comes Clear at the End of each Day
As I tuck them in Bed and to myself say,
There's Two to Kiss
There's Two to Hug
and Best of All
There's Two to Love!

I used to Graco DuoGlider and have had it since the girls were born. But the thing is the front doesn't recline enough to let whoever is in it fall asleep. And the 2nd seat doesn't recline, it just lies completely flat. It's not bad to load and unload from the car but it's a mild workout.
Last week, after asking some twin moms, I got the Combi Twin Savvy. It's so much lighter, plus the girls can see each other, which is a plus because they look to each other when they are ovewhelmed. I avoided this kind of stroller before because I thought it may not fit through doors. But it's not been a problem so far. The problem is that the basket underneath is so small it's useless.
What kind of stroller do you guys use? |

From the very first time, it's obvious to me that it will be impossible to give the twins a bath together, unless my husband is at home and helping me. If give both a bath, how do I get one out and get her dressed? The one would be left unsupervised. And when if they squirm and slip and slide, it's obvious it'll be hard to help both of them. So.. no, I don't think we'll be doing that any time soon. Until.... a few months before their first birthday. I decided to try. Silly me, silly me. It was a disaster. Thing 1 was just fine, but Thing 2 cried her eyes out and was slipping and sliding. Thankfully, my husband was home to save me from my own foolishness.
I think perhaps when they can walk really well, I may try this again. I can dry one out and let her run naked and then get the other one. That way there is no one left unsupervised in the water. |

Life has become a little bit more managable lately that we are venturing out, the whole five of us. But when dining out, I'm always the last to eat. I have to feed the twins first and then get to my food. Even if they have been excellent at self-feeding, I still need to feed them because I can't give them a plate (or it'll end up on the floor with the food!). And I don't want to put the food right on the table. So I end up starving and last to finish.
But recently, I bought a booster/high chair that straps into a chair and it has it's own tray. It can be folded to take with out so a restaurant.. and we did! It was heavenly to eat with everyone and eat leisurely. I prepare the girls' food and put on their trays and let them eat. Yay! Plus, the booster is great for traveling because it's so compact! Space is a rare commodity in our mini-van. |

This group needs a revival.
Having twins, I found myself thinking about something I haven't thought about before - how do I get them in and out of the car from home? My car is out in the drive way (my garage is full of crap) so when we go out (and we go out everyday because to drive big brother to school) I don't want to buckle one in the car and then go and get the other one. What if someone sees my car open and decide to take my baby?! I know, I'm paranoid. And then there's the heat. If I get one in the car without the key in, while I get the other one, it'll be very very hot in there. But I if I leave the key in, someone can just drive off with the car.
So here's what I've been doing. I have an extra stroller that I have in the garage. I take Thing 1 and put her in the stroller in the garage. And then quickly go back in the house to get Thing 2. With Thing 2, I can go ahead and put her in the car seat while still be within earshot and eye-sight of Thing 1.
Problem solved. I guess if someone really wants to take my car I can't do anything to stop it, but at least I would be able to witness the whole thing. |
