Over Maeve Binchy I think

by cheleinkalComment Published at 08:4608:461 comments1 comments36 Visits36 VisitsReport

I am reading the new maeve binchy book & I think I've out grown her..... either that or in the years in which I didn't read her and now she has really changed her style and now sucks.  I loved her in my early 20's, I don't suppose I should be so surprised that my tastes have changed  by my (ich!) mid 30's but I am.  has anyone else experienced an awaking like this?????

Re: Over Maeve Binchy I think

Oh yes, numerous times. I think the more you read the and the wider your taste becomes, stories needs to be a bit more challenging to keep the interest. I find that, if I read too much of one author who has a predictable style, I've got the ending worked out before the second chapter. Maeve Binchy being one I grew out of very quickly and I dont think a change in style could loure me back, but never say never LOL. Any good reading you can recomend?  Adriana Trigiani's, Big Stone Gap trilogy, was one I enjoyed, and each book stands alone, so not left wondering.
