Do I have a miracle to share!!!

by lillkatherynComment Published at 22:1922:196 comments6 comments35 Visits35 VisitsReport

Ok it's been about 3 weeks now since I had the most amazing experince at church.  We had a special pastor, from Africa, come and preach at our church.  Now the church I go to is in Spanish, and this pastor speaks English, so our pastor translated.  It was a great service about the word of God and how it is spoken.  About how God's word is still living like it did back when he created the heavens and earth.  That the word is alive and making miracles and that the word is as strong as back in the days of the bible.

I had my own miracle that day, with my son.  If you have seen my blogs, you know that my son was premature and has been underweight for months.  No matter how much we feed him he would gain little to no weight.  We tried everything, all kinds of foods, doubling his formula, anything.  Well, towards the end of the service I went up with him for the pastor to bless him while I prayed the God would give him health and for him to put on weight and eat like crazy and just be a healthy baby.  Well no one in the church knows that he has had this problem, especially the pastor who visited that day.  I was praying holding my son that he would eat and just be healthy and grow and gain weight like he should.  As the pastor when down the line he would place his hand on the peoples' head and bless them, then move onto the next.  He did this for everyone but about 3 people, one being my son.

He went person to person in the front, blessing them and moving on.  But when he got to me and my son he stoped.  He placed his hand on my sons head and then on his back, over his stomach.  He began to pray that my son be heald from cancer.  That in Jesus's name the cancer to be rebuked and removed from my sons body.  That my son be healed and free from cancer.  I just balled and cried like I have never before.  I just prayed and thanked God for him and for healing my son.  The pastor finished and went onto the other people, just placing his hand on their heads and blessing them.  Even several parents brought up their children, and he did the same.  I truely was like God told him especially for me, to heal my son.  After returning to my seat my SILs asked me what he said as they were shocked.  I told them what he said and asked my MIL, how does he know what was wrong with my son?  No one told him anything!!!  This was a true miracle and gift from God.  After we left church I talked to my MIL about what happened.

My MIL told my SIL and I that God spoke to him and told him what was wrong, that is how he knew what to pray for.  Well, let me tell you, my son ate like there was no tomorrow!  The most he had ever eaten in his life!  Everyone had finished eating and he was still eating.  We were all amazed at how different my son was.  The next day my son was drinking about 8oz in the bottle at a time, never like before.  He was so active and just was a different baby.  My MIL told me that she could see a difference immediately after the pastor prayed for him.

So now after about 3 weeks my son has gained just under about 2 lbs, grew what seems like an inch, and is looking very chubby compaired to before.  And he is still eating a ton, sometimes up to 10-12oz at night before bed, and 7oz in the am before breakfast.  You can see that he has changed, as he now has a permenant pot belly from eating and gaining weight.  He is so different then before, it's like he has a whole new fresh start!  And what was really nice is that my hubby, whom could not be at church that day due to working at the bakery, was able to see what happened the other night.  He says now how big our son is getting, where as before he could not see much difference.  They taped that day at church and when hubby saw how the pastor prayed for our son, he burst into tears.  He could see that what ever it was that kept our son from getting all he needed from his food was no longer there.  The Cancer has left his body and he is now rapidly catching up to other babies his same age!!!!

He is a miracle and God changed my son that day...Today when you see my son, he still on the skinnier side, but you can see the chub in his face, at the wrists and the creases in his legs.....

I just had to share this with you all.....

Prayer Journal

by ph419alwaysComment Published at 08:5308:531 comments1 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport

Hi all,

Some of you may already do this, but I was speaking to my Mum on the phone a few minutes ago (yes - very late lol, is nearly Midnight here atm) and she was telling me about a lady she met who writes a "prayer journal". Basically what she does is keep a journal of everything she prays about as if she were writing it to God and he was reading it as she wrote (ie, "Lord, I'm really having trouble with ____ at the moment. What they said has hurt me deeply and I need your help....." or "Just wanted to thank you Lord for helping me handle that hard situation today"). She then "listens" both while she's writing and after she's finishes writing her prayer in case she gets an answer, and then writes this down (for example, her prayer in blue pen, and God's response in red pen).

I am seriously considering doing this myself as it makes praying seem so much more personal and so much less formal, and thought I'd tell you guys about it in case any of you wanted to do it too.

Cheers,

Pia

Knock at the Door

A new pastor was visiting the homes of his parishioners.

At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door. Therefore, he took out a card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, Genesis 3:10."

Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter.

Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid, for I was naked."

Libby24 really needs your support right now. She is in a very bad place emotionally due to circumstances involving a friend and she really needs to know we love her and she is a great friend. She has not blogged about it for fear of it affecting me, but she really needs us. Her hubby is doing a great job of helping her, but I am hoping seeing all our support will help too. I can't go into detail but it's parenting related as it effects her whole family. All I can say is that someone has hurt her very badly because of their own issues and I don't know how else to show her she is valuable except by telling you guys she needs us. Pray for her?

Breastfeeding and told to cover up in a church function

by MotherofJWEComment Published at 01:4001:4010 comments10 comments61 Visits61 VisitsReport

I was in a church-run workshop today when a woman kindly informed me that when I was playing down on the floor with my baby, particualrly if I lent over, the men on the other side of the room might feel uncomfortable to look in my direction for they would be able to see down my top.  I thanked her at the time, and then went to adjust the straps on my breastfeeding tank top, only to realise it was as tight as it was going to go.  Puzzled I didn't know what it was she expected me to do or not do.  I then wondered, what would I do if my son needed a feed.  My breasts would be even more exposed then, would the men feel uncomfortable with this too?!  I mean, I usually casually use a wrap to give myself SOME privacy, mainly so people don't see much of my nipple.  And a 5 month old can pull on and off all the time making it hard to be discreet.  Now I am confused as to whether it will be considered inappropriate to breastfeed in any church meetings.  This woman later rang me to "apologise", but then when I asked her about the breastfeeding issue she then said she wouldn't have a problem with it if it was in a woman's meeting, but men find breasts a turn-on (then again they used to ahve to cover chair legs for this same reason).  I am confused as to what the politically correct thing AND the morally correct thing is to do in this situation.  Do I need to spend $60 per top on clothes suitable for breastfeeding so that it you can't see my bust when I lean over?

For you I created the sun set,

took away your large, heavy debt

I'm glad to call you my mine,

My love can't be drawn in a single line

It was there in the beginning and there in the end

There's nothing that you give me that i can't mend

So keep your hearts and ears open to me

And I will show you all the beauty there is to see

In you, In me, In others and in the world around you

So rememba these precious gifts i have given unto you...

A story to reflect on

by nell18-3Comment Published at 12:3412:3412 comments12 comments35 Visits35 VisitsReport

Two boys grew up together in USA, they became best friends and did everything as a team, from school to joining the US army, they were recuited into the same regiment and served their country alongside each other.

Eventually they were both sent to Vietnam and saw many horrific things and lived though battles side by side,

one night as they were hiding in a Fox hole dug out trench, a stray grenade was thrown in with them. One of the friends without thinking, selflessly threw himself onto the grenade and took the worst of the impact, he was immediately killed. His friend badly injured, survived but mentally was in  a bad way and physically in a bad way after losing his leg.

Over the next few years the friend who survived, could never let go of the guilt that he had survived and his friend had lost his life to save him. He became a tramp and an alcoholic and drug user, he was full of self pity and continually abused his own body sometimes attempting suicide.

One day at his lowest point, he had a visitor, it was the father of the friend who had died saving him. The man could not look his friends father in the eye, such was his shame, but the father knelt beside him and gently said

"My son lost his life so you could keep your life

But look what you have done with that life !!!!"

I was thinking about this story in our Easter service today. I wonder what God will say to us ????

psalms 91

by Libby24Comment Published at 01:2601:264 comments4 comments27 Visits27 VisitsReport

my girlfriend sent me this to try and help me with all my fears and i thought i would share this with you all.

Psalm 91

 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
       will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]

 2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
       my God, in whom I trust."

 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
       and from the deadly pestilence.

 4 He will cover you with his feathers,
       and under his wings you will find refuge;
       his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

 5 You will not fear the terror of night,
       nor the arrow that flies by day,

 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
       nor the plague that destroys at midday.

 7 A thousand may fall at your side,
       ten thousand at your right hand,
       but it will not come near you.

 8 You will only observe with your eyes
       and see the punishment of the wicked.

 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
       even the LORD, who is my refuge-

 10 then no harm will befall you,
       no disaster will come near your tent.

 11 For he will command his angels concerning you
       to guard you in all your ways;

 12 they will lift you up in their hands,
       so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
       you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
       I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
       I will be with him in trouble,
       I will deliver him and honor him.

 16 With long life will I satisfy him
       and show him my salvation."

Fellowship

by robalmanComment Published at 15:3115:317 comments7 comments35 Visits35 VisitsReport

For me, this ranks close to the top of the list for reasons why christianity is vital.

Mainstream society needs values like the ones that can be taught through the friendships that can be gained here.

I for one notice a positive glow within when I attend fellowship meetings/outings/meals and so on.

The people you meet are not false and you know where you stand from the beginning and this reason alone is good enough reason for myself to suggest it is a great place for kids.

There may be few exceptions but the majority of kids I see at church are happy and healthy and show plenty of free spirit.

There are many other things worse than going to church...doing nothing is one.

Can anyone else list possitive reasons for being a christian and/or attending church.

Regards

Robert
