Hello Everyone!

So, what would we like to read??

I'm partial to a bit of Jane Austen myself... :)

Regards,

Jess

I'm new....
Hi everyone!  I am really new here- this is my first group on Minti!  You all seem really nice and I look forward to getting to know you better.  I love the suggestion of taking turns suggesting a title and posting questions.  Could someone let me know our selection for January?  I probably just missed it?  Thanks and I look forward to getting to know you all better.  Love, Snowflake

February book :)

Hiya!

Ok here's my book choice for February:
"Like the Flowing River: thoughts & reflections" by Paulo Coelho.

I've read all his work - he's my favourite writer, and I've been fortunate to be in contact with him in real life!

If someone else was going to pick it before Feb, that's ok!

xx

schedule

Ok.. unless anyone disagrees I think I am going to come up with a monthly schedule.  That person will be responsible for choosing the book for that month.  That person will then be the monitor for that month.  They will be responsible for posting the weekly discussion question on the blog.

I am off tomorrow- Veterans Day observed.  I'll come up with a schedule.  Everyone can then post their book chose.  Please list your book so those that like to read can do so.

I'll start for December.  That will give us 3 weeks to read the first book.

Let me know if anyone disagrees!

We could have everyone take turns being the moderator.  Everyone could choose a book for the month.  That person would be responsible for posting one question a week?

Or we could vote on the titles.  What I like about the book club other than discussing the books, is the fact that you often read genres or books you never would have otherwise.

That's a great idea. I really like that one.

If we do one question a week then we'd have to sort of have a schedule of reading I suppose. We could also have a bit of a chat towards the end of the month once we'd all finished as a general discussion.

I agree about the good thing being reading different books than you otherwise might. Although I know there are some books I would rather not read... They did American Psycho a few months ago on the ABC one and I avoided reading that one.

Book choice

Hi Jess,

I'm a total Jane Austen freak... in fact, my now-cancelled trip to France & England was going to involve roaming about Austen-country with the lovely Helen for a day or two... have to put that on hold for now...

How will this be run? Would each person maybe suggest 3 titles & then we vote? or just take it in turns that each month someone is responsible for selecting the book to read?

cheers!

I suppose it would be up to the moderator and the rest of the group but I like the idea of perhaps we all suggest a title and then vote for the order we read them? That way we all get to read a 'favourite' and as we only have five members atm that means we'd have 5 months of books sorted and then other people can join in.

The other option is to go with one of the First Tuesday books on the ABC? Just an idea.

Regards,

Jess.
