Large Families

In Australia the average family has 1.7 kids. Once you have your third child you are then considered a large family. It is not always easy planning things when you have more than the average. Here we can discuss the issues of having a large family.

1 Early Riser

by masonfamilyComment Published at 16:4016:401 comments1 comments19 Visits19 VisitsReport

Hi everyone, I have 4 kids, ages 6, 5, 2 and nearly 1. My 5yr old boy started prep this year and has been waking up between 5:30 - 6am !!! He sits at the head of our bed and whispers 'Muuuumm... Muuuummmm... Can you get up... I'm hungry... Muuuummmm'

This is every morning without fail! I'm breastfeeding the 2 little ones and havent had a full nights rest in nearly 2 yrs!!! He doesnt even consider waking his father, its got to be me and no one else and I actually dont mind but I wish he wouldnt wake soooo early. The last few days, he has gotten into the habit of waking the babies cause he knows that I will get up to change and feed them when I can usually talk to him for another half hour and cat nap in between!!! lol

But if they are awake then I have to get up...If I could put him to bed later then I would but his 6yr old sister needs to get to bed early cause she loves her sleep and has to be woken most mornings to get ready for school and will chuck up a big stink if he is allowed to go to bed later then she does.

So yeah, one early riser, 2 night owls (the babies) and a daughter who loves to sleep in... like me!

LARGE FAMILIES

by bec-979Comment Published at 15:2015:200 comments0 comments18 Visits18 VisitsReport

Hi there to everyone,

I have a large family with 5 children (4 boys and 1 girl) I think it is lovely to see the come back of the large family. We all know how difficult it is financially, physically, and emotionally, but it is the most rewarding. My children are my world they make me laugh, cry, smile and yell, but could you imagine it not being that way there is always something to make you smile, and best of all if they all help with the chores your job as a parent is much easier

Regards to all Bec

Hi, my name is Chantel, I have 4 lovely kids ranging from 10 down to (almost) 2. I have been partnered in a not so good relationship for over 12 years.

We have recently made the change from a large city to a small rural town of just over one thousand.

I suffer from Meniere's Disease, Depression and Type 2 Diabetes, and would loooooooove some new friends.

I have four mostly wonderful children between 3yrs and 12yrs One girl and 3boys.  Is it just me or are girls far harder work mentally and boys harder physically?  Our family is finished. I never thought i would say that. (i love babies)

Number 6?

by mum507Comment Published at 04:3504:350 comments0 comments52 Visits52 VisitsReport

Hi!  I'm a mum to 5 beautiful kids - 3 girls, 2 boys.  My partner and I are deciding whether to try for number 6.  The amount of negative comments we receive about having so many children is annoying.  Some people can't seem to understand the joy we get from having a large (and noisy) family. We won't let that stop us though.  I can't imagine our lives any other way. Besides, the more kids I have, the better I seem to get at it.  LOL!!!
