We should all be encouraging our children to read and even from a very young age children like to be read to.

Favourite Children's Book Podcast: Just One More Book!

by JustOneMoreBookComment Published at 18:5118:510 comments0 comments18 Visits18 VisitsReport
Hi,

I'm Andrea. I live in Ottawa, Canada with my husband, two daughters (7 and 5 years old) and a ridiculous number of children's books.

We are the book-fanatics behind the Children's Book Podcast "Just One More Book!" which is a thrice-weekly podcast about the children's books we love and why we love them -- recorded in our favourite coffee shop.

We'd love to include your thoughts on your family's favourite books as a listener-submitted book review for our show...

Description:
Just One More Book is a thrice-weekly podcast in which we take a few minutes out of our morning coffee ritual to discuss one of our many favourite children's books.

Through this podcast and its website, we are building a lively, interactive community linking children's book authors, illustrators, readers (parents and children) and publishers.

Episodes range in length from 5 to 12 minutes and can be played directly from our web page or downloaded to an ipod for listening on the go. Each episode is an informal discussion of one of our family's favourite children's books. We also feature interviews with authors, literacy related discussions or audio reviews submitted by our listeners.

This podcast is powered by passion. We have no advertisers or sponsers and there is no financial gain to be had. Our goal is to link children with great books and help create happy memories for children and the adults that read to them…and to have fun!

For a downloadable brochure please see this link. For a 1 minute audio promo. please check out our About page. For a bit of background, you can check out this recent newspaper article about our podcast. The "Just One More Book!!" podcast is featured on high tech, library, parenting and literacy education sites around the world ( To see the many sites and directories that currently feature this site, please see this link)

If you would like to share these conversations with others who are interested in connecting families and children with great children's books, please feel free to link to this site and to pass it along to parents and teachers.

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

by sunshineoz15Comment Published at 02:3602:360 comments0 comments31 Visits31 VisitsReport

What an enchanting book.

I borrowed it from the library and loved it so much I had to buy it. It's aimed at 5+ kids and tells the story of a once arrogant china rabbit and his incredible journey through life.

The illustrations are stunning and the story is divided into about 27 lovely short chapters which makes it a perfect bedtime book.

Don't miss this one!!!

Library books

by MarlenaComment Published at 12:3512:350 comments0 comments58 Visits58 VisitsReport
We go to the library often and get 10 books. This time we came out with 4 good books out of 10 so that worked out good.  Here are the names and writers.
  1. Can you moo? By David Wojtowycz
  2. With a little help from Daddy  by Dan Andreasen
  3. What am I? An animal guessing game by Iza Trapani (this is for older kids not 2 year old, well my son couldn't play it.  I thought it was a good idea for a book though).
  4. Where wild babies sleep by Ann Purmell
Hope you find them and read them and enjoy them.

While we were at Mum and Dads last week we enrolled E at their local library (no more transporting books for our visits there!  YAY)

Foudn this princess book by Penny Dale called princess princess.  It was a lovely story and even though there was the 'bad thing' that happened it turned out alright in the end.  i wish our local library had such lovely books in it.

Peace

Blues Clues and Thomas

My son Austin is all over the Thomas the train books and blues clues.  He soemtimes even likes to tell me a store about Thomas.  He isnèt two yet so his story is mainly telling the story in his works and mumbles.  Blues clues is great because he likes to look for the paw prints.
