FORMATTING
Hi - I'm having difficulty formatting - I know Safari doesn't support the formatting but have just tried explorer and I think the same thing has happened. System wouldn't post it anyway as I inadvertently used the word 'crap' (I think). Any suggestions? Want to get a piece out on traveling during the holidays.

Questions about reported articles

I have a few questions about reported advice

When an advice article is reported does the author of the article get notified?

If so do they get to read why the advice was reported?

Do they get to read all the comments made on that advice within the reported advice section if they have not yet achieved a rank high enough to view the admin functions?

Is access to admin functions done by ranking or shield? (what is the minimum level to achieve it?)

If I report someone's article for copyright or other reason, should I be sending them an email to inform them or does Minti do it?

also - I have not been able to leave an explanation in the initial box when I report advice just a line or two. If I type more than that it tells me I have to leave a comment despite the fact I have tried to submit a long comment. I usually get around this by leaving a brief comment on why I am reporting it and a note that I will give more details in a comment when it is in the reported advice section.

Questions about reported articles
sorry for getting to this so late...

just to let you know that we will be changing the reporting system over the next couple of months.

In answer to your questions below on the CURRENT system...
  1. no they do not get notified. would be nice if the person reporting the article sent them a quick message.
  2. no they do not
  3. no they do not - only level 5 and above are able to see admin area.
  4. shield. level 5. silver with 2 stripes.
  5. see answer 1 above ;)
  6. interesting - thanks - was not aware of this bug.

How do you view a persons advice articles if they have written more than 50.

I was trying to view all the articles written by an individual member but only the last 50 show up when you go to the members page and click on advice. How do I see the rest of the articles by that member?

thanks

You're right, on the advice page of individual member there's no 'next' page button. Clay needs to do something about it. Other ways is going to 'read advice' page and sort the advice by author, but still a bit hassle. If only could search advice as per individual member would be good.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ggggggggg hhhhhhhhh!

What is it about this site / my computer.

Please check this out and tell me why I have posted so many replies - it seems to have saved the message every time I added a new word. This is the second time it has happened and I can't think what has gone wrong. The only thing I can think is that I had Minti open on two screens so I could see what everyone else had written whilst I was adding my bit. Other than that, I'm stumped!

lindterbeen - are you trying to edit one of your own comments or someone elses? you should only edit your own comments. Their should be an "edit" link on your comment bubble. You should not need to report the comment and then edit it.

Nope, my own comment (see editing experiment).
There is no edit link, only reply to this person on one side and report comment on the other.

I work on a Mac, does that make any difference?

Also, the last article I wrote is coming up in my article list (on my page) with no stars filled in and the word edited where draft or live usually is. However, when I go to the article itself it shows up as normal. Is there something I have to jog to get this article updating?

Tahnk you!

i just got an update - apparently their is no edit link for comments for members. (I didn't realise this - as I do see one as I am an Admin user). So currently members can not edit comments.

In regards to your article, it appears as though you have made some changes to your article put have not yet published them. if you click on the edit article and click publish then your edits will be live.

Weird stuff happening today, 7/18.
So for me, Minti has been slow on and off today. It has also required me to log in several times. I would log in, and then when I click on something to make a comment, it makes me log in again. Then a few times, I logged out and clicked on my profile and it says I'm still "currently online". Anybody know what's been happening?

Weird stuff happening today, 7/18.

Minti wasn't at all slow today, but I have the same problem as far as being logged on one minute and not the other. I just voted on an article and wrote a comment. But when I clicked on "add comment", everything was gone. The comment area was gone because again I wasn't logged on anymore..and the comment I had just written was gone too.

Weird stuff happening today, 7/18.

This has happened to me when I commented on both blogs and articles. It's happened on a few different articles so I can't remember which ones. But as far as the blog, I tried to write one on BabyorBust in response to lindterbean's comment and I was automatically logged out and the comment was gone.

friend requests
is there any way to delete friend requests? I sent out a couple to members whom I think haven't logged on in ages or are ignoring the requests and the little 'pending' tag keeps showing up in my list. I don't think they plan to respond.

Difference between Groups and Forums
Hope everyone is liking the new groups and forums. The difference between "Groups" and "Forums" for those that aren't sure are:
  • Groups are for people with the same issues, age of children, country or interest (like a parents group).
  • Forums are for anyone who wants to chat with others about a range parenting topics.
We hope eventually to also talk in real time and see when members in the forum room are online.
Any queries feel free to reply.

You want to comment on someone's requested advice
How you do this is click on the... "Add your comment link"
Don't click on the link "Write Advice", maybe this should be "Write Minti Article" ??? What does everyone think, is it currently confusing??? Will making it clearer, make it easier to tell the difference between commenting within the 'requested advice' forum and publishing an article of advice in the Minti database? YOUR FEEDBACK will help improve this area.
Some members have been doing the later (publishing) and not wanting to, but are just wanting to reply within the "requested adivice" forum . By accidently clicking on "Write advice" instead of "add your comment", your direct response doesn't appear to the person you wanted to reply to as a comment to that persons need for help.
That's fine if you want to author an article on 1. the topic the person posted to in the requested advice forum and 2. you believe that not only does this person need to hear your advice (which they do get notified of), but you have a greater desire to get your message out to all parents searching from all over the globe for detailed advice on this exact problem or issue, then by all means click on "Write Advice" . For help on a writing a Minti advice article, to reach a greater parenting audience here on Minti, to also be available via other search engines ...view this article example...
Does this make sense?

If you haven't yet - take a quick tour of the features of Minti
To help with what button does what and what certain links mean throughout Minti, you might like to take a quick tour - clickhere
I just did the tour and it's really visual and has helpful explanations of what, for example a "Tag Cloud" is and how to use it.
What certain things are in your member account page allow you to do, as well as everything you need to know on publishing a great article with images, tags, related and external links to improve your ranking in the community.
Feel free to give me any feedback.
Visit the quick Minti tour...here it only takes a minute and make your Minti ranking glow!!!

Have just taken a tour. Looks good. Can I make a suggestion (or two). Please, please can we have a "get me out of here" button. I wanted a quick look and then couldn't escape! At the end, I STILL couldn't escape.

I'm sure you realise that a number of screen shots are now out of date. When you do all that hard work, someone goes along and changes things;)

Otherwise, its really informative and helpful.
