Planning pregancy while still Breast feeding? Is it possible
it all depends on if you are ovulating again. breastfeeding suppresses ovulation, and without the egg, that poor sperm has nowhere to go! by 13 months, unless you are nursing often and for decent periods of time (around the clock basically), my guess is that you are ovulating and your period has returned. if this is the case, you can conceive, and you can continue to nurse your baby. the nutrition you take in from the pregnancy will automatically go to the fetus first, your toddler second and you last. for this reason, it's essential that you take a prenatal vitamin and eat very well to get all the nutrition your body needs.
i nursed my daughter about 5 months into my pregnancy, and we resumed once my son was born for another three or four months. this is called tandem nursing and if you go to google and type in that term, you will find a lot of information about how it works and the benefit it has to reduce sibling rivalry.
hope that helps.
