I went to school with Christmas Shepard and Elvis king Wong. There are some parents that should of maybe taken that little bit of extra time to think of names.........
also sonia head (sit's on your head etc) was a favourite of the boys at school.
My good friend called her little boy 'Gerizim.' I was at the hospital when she named him and i was SO embarrased! I guess i am used to it now...It has a nice meaning but i can't remember it...lol.
My cousin has 2 girls and the first one is Adelaide Grace Rose (with a hyphonated surname too!), and they live in Adelaide..... The second one is Ruby who also has 2 middle names and a hyphonated last name! Way too many names for a chils to write down in class!!!!
I know of a little boy whose name is Hurtle Umberto Norris. I think this is just plain cruel! I had a Wayne Kerr too in my year at school. I also had a Richard Head (Dick-head) and went to school with Vincent and Martin Dick - who as you can imagine got teased something wicked. But then again so did I - my maiden name is Mundy. Even the principal used to make fun of me at primary school.
When I was a kid, I met a boy called Harley Davidson. At my high school there were brother and sister called Pearl and Sydney, surname Harbour. I've met a girl called Shady.
while out today with my children at the community gardens, there was a little boy there named Zenith, and i found that unusual..... Also when i was at school there were kids there with the last name dick.....(Sorry if i had to use that word)but that was their last name....
When I was in high school there was a kid at our brother school called Edward Bear !!!!!!!!!! I'm assuming he was very cuddly!!!!!!! TEDDY BEAR!!!! LOL
I have always loved names starting with Z, I had so many picked out for my children but only got to use one of them Zelinda. I had zarliah picked out for my next daughter but she got Reshea (Re-Shay). There not that different but there names to me are as pretty as they are and i thought id share them : )
I knew a couple of girls growing up called Theresa Green... my parents didn't believe me when I met the first one, going home saying my new friend's name was theresa green... they thought I'd made an imaginary friend!
My sister's middle name is bresle ( said BRAY-ELL, like the writing for visually impaired ).
I have a friend with the last name Cliff, her partner's last name is Hill... wait, wait it gets worse...
their first child is named Brook... as in a babbling brook LOL Brooke Hill-Cliff... The poor girl!
I went to school with 2 girls they where twins named Amnesia and Australia. They were picked on all the time. Also I was at the supermarket the other day and the man that served us name was Pee Wee. My son and I were laughing so much at it.
Pee-Wee is the name of a singer from the band "THe Delltones"
It is quite an unusual name!
I don't think i would like to have amnesia or australia for a name though! I wonder why the parents named their children with such hideous names?
Oh well, these things happen.
hi to all. I am a new member, so am new to this forum stuff. my name is kayla. But i thought i would share a name that i thought of as unusual - Loree. Its my middle name. I have no idea how my mum and dad came up with it, but they did!
Am new too but thought I would share my daughters name with you. Danessia Rose (pronounsed Danisha). When she was born people thought that my DF and I had combined our names Dennis ans Sharon and got alot of cards to Denisha but we never thought of it. We found it in a baby names book and it is a combination of Danielle and Vanessa.
My sons name is Aidan Ray. Aidan meanining Little Fire, his dad is a volunteer fire fighter but we didn't know the meaning until after he was born!
I worked at a child care centre and we had a boy there named Jacob (not so bad) Everlasting Love Child (can't remeber surname) his mum was a hippie and another boy called Boo.
Naming children 'Fairly' can be difficult, teasing is a big issue at kinders and schools. Mind you even to most normal name can have something mean attached to it!! My childrens names are unusual, (I have 4), I think what I was trying to achieve is a unique name for a unique child. Jordan for my son (14 not so unusual) Jetlyn for my daughter (7), Raux for my son (5, pronounced Rorks), Ciara for my daughter (23months pronounced Se-ara). I guess in hindsight Raux can have alot of teasing coming his way, but he has a strong personality to go with it and it really suits who he is. With so many children being born everyday, alot of people ARE thinking outside of the square for names and maybe thats when questionable names arise....
I was reading the paper one day and came across a baby girl just been born her name was Crystal Bottom I instantly thought of glass #$$^ bottom
And i use to know a girl name Treasa Green
And i guy called adom Antonis he use to got adom ant

My eldest is Christopher, growing up he called himself Duffer, my daughter has the unique ability of having her name AMY as also being her initials, something her teachers never did used to get! Thomas is TJ as he is Thomas Joseph and Daniel well he has lots of names LOL
My daughter talked with a lisp when she was a baby, so when you would ask her what her name was she would say "SIANN" her name is Cheyenne, so now we all call her SY, when I had my next child I wanted a nick name that would go with SY, so I named her Khiley. We call her Khi. But they have beautifull names I think, Cheyenne Willow and Khiley Jade. Our son is Cole James, so I did not get to keep with the element type middle name. BUT Cole is close, if you think COAL. lol
I was teased alot because I am Leslie. So I heard Lezzy alot and Leslie the Lezbian, and Lassie kids can come up with something no matter what name you choose!
I knew some one named James James James. All I can say is WHY WHY WHY?
i tried to give my kides names that couldnt be given nicknames, you like gayle the whale, snnail etc(like me) but my 2 yr old daughter has a twin brother named Ewan and i dont know why but che called him haggis from at leat one year old now she calls him aggy , he also refers to himself as aggy . they do say Ewan too but mostly its aggy, it just seems odd considering his dad plays bagpipes and has a scottish surname but we never refer to haggis blurrk.
we just think its cute and wonder how long they will keep it up for.
When i was at school i had a friend Christopher Dean and yep the boys gave him hell for it Chris dean.
My eldest daughters name is Shinaai pronounced Shinaye (similar to previous post)...I like to be a little different and didnt want well used names....My youngest son is Dallas James BUT we worked out when he was a few months old that when spelt backwards it says sallad samej..lol..
I have a few friends who have made up their own names for their children. A common way to do this is to take two names you like and combine them - this can be great! However I know of one lady who did this and unfortunately the name she 'created' is the name of a dreadful disease! Every time the poor child goes to hospital the nurses all smirk....
My name is different I was going to be called Leanne but there was 4 little girls born in the street where we lived around the same time as me. 3 of them were named Leanne. Mum thought ok if I call her Leanne and I stand on the porch and call her 4 girls will come running so I got Liarne pronounced Lea-arn. Also one of the girls at work called her daughter Promise gee that poor girl everyone going to say she on a promise
Also one of the guys named his son William wingett. He will get willie wingett. A friend I had named Kellie nearly married a guy with the surname Kelly so she would have been Kellie Kelly lol
I don't know what it was about my home town but we had a ton of kids with names you just shake your head at while I was in high school. First we had the Day kids; Sonny, Rainy, and Stormy. Then there was the Budd girl, Rose, the Kane girl, Kandy, and the Mount boy, Rocky. We also had twin boys, Bo and Luke and their older sister, Daisy. Last but not least was the high school girl I had in class when I used to teach who named her daughter Dream Star. What are people thinking?
when i gave birth to my daughter lillian the lady in the room next to me called her daughter winter-lia. i said thats an unusual name, she said she made it up, because it was so cold she named her after the weather... strange...
When i was pregnant my daughters father decided that he would choose the name for the baby boy and i could choose for the girl. We wanted the surprise on the day. He was very supportive at that time and i agreed to this idea. But he kept coming up with names like Tyrese, Washington, or footballers surnames. Bergkamp etc! I prefer traditional and/or biblical names so I struggled with this a lot. I was so relieved to have a daughter!! The name i chose just happened to be a mixture of his eldest sister and his nanas name which worked well for his family. Whew!
Next time I may have to write a list of 'acceptable names' and get my man to choose.... but not to get ahead of myself - need to find such a man yet. LOL

I concieved on christmas Day 2003 (found out I was pregnant in the middle of february) All through my pregnancy I couldn't get the song "Amazing Grace" out of my head and used to sing it to my bump in the bath. We decided not to find out the sex of the baby when we went for scans we wanted it to be a surprise and when it came to choosing names I just couldn't settle ona boys name there really wasn't anything I liked (we went through every baby name book and the internet). When I had the baby I had a baby girl and from the moment I saw her I knew her name - Amy Grace and the meaning of her name is Amy = Beloved, Grace = gift from god ! Our beloved gift form god!!
I was so set on the name Gabriel for a boy when I was pregnant ... however after hearing people refer to our unborn child .... "Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel " I soon grew tired of the name so very much ! So glad I made it known then so we named our son something else that I can live with the rest of our lives ... Someone in America a few years ago named their son "ESPN" .... seriously , pronounced "es - pin" .... "ESPN" is the sports channel on cable television .... kinda like calling your child "CBS" or "NBC" or "CNN" .... Crazy !
I have never heard such weird names....my ex went to tafe with a guy called merlin and i had a freind called summer breeze or summer leaves, something like that. I always wanted to be called melody, but all through school i was smelly melly kelly...oh dear.
My sister married a guy with the last name coates... My sister is now known as Billie Coates of course being her sister I address all her mail as Billy Goats... Oh how she loves me... But her full name is Billie-odelle and when her maiden name was Gore I would take her inital and call her BOG... Yep sisters can be mean... And we tease her about her what her kids names might be, Rain coates, iona coates... etc....
We once met someone whose name was Semaj. It was a lady.
I asked the background of the name, and it was "My father's name was James, and since they didn't have a name for a girl, the used my dad's name backwards. J A M E S... S E M A J.
I worked at a school that had one student named Wayne Kerr and two named Michael Hunt
My Dad went to school with a Susan Ridge and later met a man named Donald Duck. Apparently he would look you in the eye and introduce himself as Don Duck.
Mum has a friend with a niece called Paige Turner. We cringed when we heard of a baby with the surname Rhodes who's parents called her Dusty.
We recently heard about a soldier in a foreign army who is the only person whose first name is always written in full. He has no middle name and his full name is Wayne Anchor- the army thought it wise not to refer to him as W Anchor.
Poor kid! Anyone else know one? I remember a dear friend of mine that I went to school with whose name was Chanelle Michelle (and a rhyming surname but id better not say for privacy reasons), when i found out i just thought wow what were her parents thinking!
I knew someone who called their second baby Hayley Anne. There oldest child couldn't pronounce it properly and kept calling her Alien. It just goes to show you should practice saying your baby's name out loud before you make your final choice.
