not very safe

Considering that epidurals potentially can harm children, more so then unhindered birth alone, don't we owe it to our kids to avoid unecessary risks with their health?

Epidural

Well  - why do ppl make either assumptions or just think they know they answers. Why write something that is going to scare someone!

When my first daughter was born I has to have an emergency C-Section as she was dying and so was I. I was not given a choice between a ep or being put to sleep. I was just knock out and that was that.

I didn't get to hear Samantha's 1st cry or give her that 1st feed. In reality she was 7 hours old before I even started waking and then I was too groggy to really take anything in! It wasn't fair! When I finally was awake enough it was to find that nearly everyone else had heald my baby buy ME!

So 7 years later when i was told another emergency C-Section was required I DEMANDED and Epidural.

Did it hurt . .... YES!

Do i regret it . . . NO!

I got to hear Danesha's 1st cry, hold her to my breast and kiss her slimmy but gorgeous belly . . . . and i got to give her that first feed.

7 years after that Sumara was born, once again and emergancy C-Section . . . and YES it was anther Epidural.......

If Epidural were unsafe then why would they give them to women like me who had two babies that were dying inside . . . .

Epidural's are not for everyone BUT they are the answer for some.

Epidural
Hi,
Well what can I say.
With my first I was induced so there was no not having a epidural.  I had no choice
The epidural only worked on one side My dd was born by forceps.  At 8lb4oz I was glad of half. Had killer headaches for months

With my second he ended up being a epidural as well and this one worked properly and he was born under full epidural due to the fact they thought he was going to be ceasered.  But it gave me a few hours relief and sleep.   Thank goodness he was 10lb4oz He was vacuum extraction.  Once again the choice was taken from me because I was so exhausted after 8 hours of labour with no progress

With my daughter she was breech and had no choice once again but to accept the doctors requests.  She was under a spinal block epidural.

I would rather have my babies delivered safe under epidural than have more complications...
But yes there are a lot of pros and cons on this subject.
 Luv Deb

Thank god I did
I had an epidural when I had my last baby as I have to have  c sections now can not do it naturally. But I am so glad I did. I had a spinal leak which gave me one heck of a head ache because it allowed some of the fluid in my brain to drain a little. It does heal itself after a few days but mine didn't. They then did further testing to discover I had a 5.5cm by 7.5 cm brain tumour in the back of my head!!!!!!! Without  the epidural and without the spinal leak another 6 months with the tumour in my head would have been in operable. Plus I like to be awake when my kids are born into this world it is more dangerous to have a general for a c section.

my first baby

i had an epe with my first baby and she had breathing problems when she was born because of it, it is a powerful drug, you can also stuff your spine if the needle is not inserted properly, i wish i had never had an epe, if i had done my research first and wasn't so inexperienced at the time i never would have had one

Epidural
Potentially HARM children? I think that's being a little dramatic. Do a little more research.
