when my son was born i was happy to breastfeed him, but six weeks later, the midwives said he wasnt putting on weight, and i went to the doctors and they said it was best if i put him on formula milk. as soon as i did that, his weight shot up. i did enjoy breastfeeding him, but his health comes first. i would have loved to breastfeed him for

I agree breast is best,too!!

All my babies had breast milk for the start of their baby life - with my 3rd baby - he had only 2-3wks - as just couldn't do it after that time as I didn't have just the supply for his needs and he was always crying so I decided to give him some formula milk and that ended his crying, too!!

My milk just wasn't enough for him either - the Doctor was pressuring me to breast feed but when went home - it just didn't work as I had 2 other young children to look after as well! And his crying woke my other children up especially when they had been asleep for a couple hours during the night!!

I can remember that just if it was yesterday but that it is now 7 yrs ago and have had another baby since then she is in Year 1 now!!

Hope this helps!! If I had another baby - I'd breast feed again, too!!

Cheers.

Breast feeding in public when bottle is an alternative

by peachynowamumComment Published at 14:2314:2324 comments24 comments97 Visits97 VisitsReport

When I was breast feeding I would always get told off by other men and women for doing it in public I was told why dont you go to the toilets or just give her a bottle.  I dont know why they would get offended but i alway put a blanket over me so noone could actually se my boobs and everyone knows breast is best as for the comment why dont you go to to the bathroom well i dont eat my food in the toilet why should my baby?!

Iwould be very interested to hear other peoples veiws on and opinions on this subject

Do we owe it to our kids to at least try?

The volume of women who claim that breastfeeding didn't work for them is really high. High enough that it can't all be true.

Do you feel that we owe it to our kids to breastfeed them? How much effort is enough? Do women just deserve a free pass? Is this just a "parents choice" issue?
