We usually end up doing whatever things bug us the most - hubby does most of the cleaning, I do yardwork and laundry, and we share cooking (or ordering as the case may be). We also hire people when we have to, to take care of basics (lawn cutting and occasional housekeeping). Since we both work pretty long hours, our time with all of us together is pretty precious and we don't like to spend it on maintenance. Our general policy for other things is 'first one to notice it takes care of it'.
