Working Mum/Stay-at-home Dad

It's an arrangement that works for us - although I don't think everyone is quite so ok with it yet....

Today, I know my hubby is taking the boys down to Hove Lagoon (playground, sand-pit, paddling etc) and I'm stuck in a hot office (not even 9am yet and it's cooking!). However, he's got to content with hot, tired little people and I've just got to contend with hot, tired computers and adults...

Today D took Fuller...
to the movies for the first time! I missed the outing but am amazed at how big my little boy is getting.

We have had the arrangement since January and I am still having problems adjusting. The division of labor at home is a hot button issue with us. How do you handle it?

Right there with you!

My hubby's at the zoo today with our three kids and a whole bunch of other sweaty, whiny kids (volunteering with the church day camp).  I think I'd rather be here in front of my computer. :-)  Although, some days I'm jealous, like the other day when they went to the beach without me.

I don't get alot of comments about working, because most of our friends are pretty supportive of our lifestyle, and I really don't have time for alot of other "gatherings" outside our circle.

When you come home
I'll bet the kids are overjoyed to see you when you come home though! :)

When you come home

You're spot on - I get an amazing reception when I come home, although usually it's tea-time so as long as I provide food quickly then we can have a nice reunion every day.

It seems that they get really hyper when I come home and play up and show off, which they never do for their Dad during the day.

When you come home
Although Dad and I both work, I used to go in to work a little earlier and he would stay a little later (till suppertime). The kids would always go nuts when he came home - kind of like they were celebrating the 'completion' of the household for the evening. Food does go a long way towards popularity! :) -ha

Do you find you get comments from other moms at gatherings? Ones that don't work?

I don't get comment from other stay at home moms, but I do feel left out because in our circle of friends (church friends mostly) the moms stay at home and have a weekly get together that I miss out on. I am trying to find my place, but it is hard.

Not really - most people (of my generation) are really understanding, but then they all know my husband, who is such a devoted, enthusiastic, committed Dad that they probably think I ought to be leaving it all up to him!
