| Virtual to Reality
We all know people in real-life and we're getting to know people on Minti. Some of us have real-life friends and family that are on Minti already. Some of us are starting to meet other Minti members in real life. When this sort of thing happens, it makes the world a much smaller and friendlier place, both on Minti and in the real world.
We are not always what we appear to be, especially not on-line. Some people feel they need to be more polite on-line, others believe they can be a bit more liberal with what they say than they can get away with in real-life. Some people come across exactly as they really are. How would we ever know? Well, here's your chance to dob each other in! lol
Be it because you already knew each other before you joined Minti, or because you met a member after joining, we want to hear about it. What is it like for you to know that member in reality?
Post a pic of the two of you together and tell us what it is like to know that person, from your perception. If you don't like someone for whatever reason, that is okay, we can't expect everyone to get along after all. If that is the case, just do your best to be nice about it... after all, they will probably come in here and say what they think of you too!!!
For those of you who are reading this, bare in mind that everyone thinks differently of everyone. What one person has to say about someone will probably be very different to what the next person will have to say. Don't take what is written in here as the total truth for this reason. You may meet someone that has been described in here by a dozen different people and get a totally different perception yourself.
Minti is a very friendly and interactive internet site. Many people are forming on-line friendships here, and although this is not the purpose of Minti (after all, it's a parenting site, not a friendship or dating site), people are starting to meet other members and form real-life friendships because of it. Some are intentionally meeting up, others are meeting by sheer luck when they find out the person sitting next to them on the bus is also a member. Either way, it's happening, and hopefully for most it's a good thing.
If you have any intentions of meeting up with another member you have been communicating with on Minti for any reason, it might do you well to read this advice first. After all, you really don't know who you are talking to on-line until after you have met them, and if you aren't careful, that can - sadly - be potentially dangerous. So read the advice carefully and be careful with any meet and greets you make.

Back in January I met EF for the first time, and today she & E visited my place. She's absolutely lovely, and just as you find her on Minti! Her DD and mine got on great, which was really nice.

Helen had been planning a visit to E.F. over tha Christmas period and wanted to take me. So off we set in the car yesterday arriving there at 2 p.m.We had a great time chatting to E.F. and her lovely little girl E. The boys were with us too of course and we chatted for over three hours. It was great to meet another minti friend as some of you may know we met KathrynR last summer. E.F. is just as you imagine a lovely mum and obviously has a wonderful relationship with her daughter.We all enjoyed it very much and Thomas took our pic. |

There's a theory that everyone on the planet knows each other by within 6 degrees of seperation. Now that many minti members have met up in person, and some have travelled long distances to do so, I thought it would be interesting to create a "Minti Friends Tree" here in this blog and build on it as new meetings happen.
I'll start by listing all the members I've met in person so far. I'll later on go through and check the blogs and comments in here and see who else has met those people, and who met those people, etc, and see if I can indeed create a tree and see how far it spreads it's branches. I already know that within no more than 3 degrees of seperation from me, it spreads from SA to NSW to QLD to TAS.
Just in case I miss anyone, or if someone hasn't blogged in here, please help me out and leave a comment with a list of everyone on minti that you know and have met in real life. If everyone does that, it'll make it a LOT quicker and easier for me to piece the puzzle together.

Kathryn and her family are holidaying about an hour from our home, so we couldn't let the opportunity pass. So this morning Mum, Daniel and I set off to meet Kathryn, Alan, Emma and Sophie.
We all decided it would be best to arrange to meet at the place where they were stopping for lunch today, along the route to their holiday. How exciting
Unfortunately it felt as though just about every other car owner in the vicinity chose the same route and we spent quite a portion of the morning texting each other on how far we were travelling in traffic. As we had by far the shortest journey we naturally were the first to arrive, so settled down with a pot of tea as we waited.
Kathryn texted me when she got to the village before where we were, so we knew when she was coming so very soon amidst the rain and just about every rambler in the village !!!!! Kathryn and her family walked into the pub. Easily recognisable I went right over to greet them and led them to the seating area I had left Mum.
We found two reasonably quiet tables, I say reasonably quiet as probably because of the rain all day long, everyone and his dog (literally) had gone to the same pub !!!! But we were soon chatting easily.
Emma and Sophie are just as cute as you would expect from their pictures, poor Kathryn was kept on her toes all through lunch trying to get Sophie to stay in one spot without running through the pub, in fact she kept us highly entertained, her grin in just as cheeky as you would expect, both girls have the most beautiful smiles.
Kathryn is absolutely lovely, we had a fantastic time and her family are just as lovely too
