Been Trying To Study

by ArnaComment Published at 20:2920:291 comments1 comments13 Visits13 VisitsReport
Just before my youngest Acacia was born, I started a study program just for women.  I found it really interesting, but once bubs came along, it went down the gurgler.

I am hoping to start Uni in the next couple of years (babies willing!).  I want to study literature, history, Social welfare and criminology.

I have found that studying at night doesn't work, so if you are studying when the kiddies are in bed, and finding you aren't remembering what you have just read, it is normal.  The best time to study is during the day, so if you can get the kiddies looked after for a couple of hours (preferably out of the house) go for it.

If anyone is interested in the course I did which is a Uni prep course and open to all women (gents, sorry, you have to do the full course!) let me know.  It is correspondence and if you don't apply for Austudy (in Australia), can be done over 12 months if you need it.

Happy studying all you game parents!

Re: Been Trying To Study

Hey Arna, thanks for joining me.

I started off doing a short course at night and used Grub's day sleeptime as my study/assignment time. I then enrolled in the cert IV of the same stream (justice admin) and was going to class at night, did one semester of two and then decided to bite the bullet and cross over to the diploma full time during the day. I figured that I would rather have a diploma in 12 months time rather than a certIV in another 6 months.

Then Grub dropped his daysleep, which really threw me off course for a bit, but as I didn't have classes all day, I would spend the free time of my class days in the library. I knew that I would get nothing done at home, and it worked for me.

I'm even going to get 1...maybe 2 subjects next week via open learning, just so I can lighten my load next semester and my brain doesn't stop functioning!!!!
