Your Favourite Charities » Group

Hi

I have a website, www.needbabythingsnow.com which gives a portion of it's commissions to charitable organisations.

I'd like to know from the Minti community, which charities (particularly ones not in Australia) are important to your community that you would like to donate to and why.  The reason being is that I want to start a separate section in my site which outlines contributions and raises awareness of particular charities and their benefits.

I look forward to receiving your posts!  Please provide as much information as possible including website addresses etc.

Raising Money for Osteoporosis

Hi Everyone     On 23rd September, I am participating in the annual Blackmores Run the Bridge (Sydney) 9km fun run to raise funds for Osteoporosis Australia and I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!   To sponsor me and make a donation to Osteoporosis Australia, please click on my page http://gofundraise.com.au/sluxton and donate using your credit or debit card via secure transaction.  All donations to this site are electronically wired to Osteoporosis Australia  via PayPal a secure online transaction agent.   Alternatively, if you would rather send a cheque, please   1) make payable to "Osteoporosis Australia" & 2) post to 23 Alkaringa Rd, Miranda NSW 2228 with 3) your return address so a receipt can be mailed to you.   If you are a tax paying Australian Citizen all donations over $2AUD are fully tax deductible.
. For more info on prevention of osteoporosis, please visit their website http://www.osteoporosis.org.au.   Please forward this to as many people as possible.  Thankyou in advance for your support.     Sally

After nealry loosing Sumara to SIDS they are now on my donation list even more so now - I've always donated before but now i even help them to raise funds when i can . .

Secondly my fav group is a little known group called RISA - this group is run entirely by volunteers and is there to support mums and familes with babies suffering from GORD which is a reflux disease. They run completely of donations and with out them I would have not had any support for my youngest . .  check them out at
RISA  or donations can be made for them here

Charities to support

Hi
The ones that i would put forward are
Cystic Fibrosis Australia and  Cystic Fibrosis UK
or any part of the worldwide Cystic Fibrosis charities
Our daughter has CF and any donations go to finding a cure and helping families
It needs a lot bigger profile to let people know about it

Purple soup
This provides sibling camps for children with brothers and sisters of Cystic Fibrosis sufferers.
They do the camps without cost to the parents and give the sibling a weekend of fun and challenges.  Within a CF family a lot of time has to be devoted to the CF child.  The siblings are often put on the back burner  The camp provides a opportunity for them to ask questions they dont feel comfortable asking their parents about CF  The camp is run by Mel who has cystic fibrosis and Tim her fiance

There are a lot of charities associated with CF and these are Starlight foundation, Make a wish and this type of charity that grants wishes to terminally ill children.

Ronald Mcdonald house that provide accomodation for families with a child in hospital.
These are jsut a few of my favorite ones
Luv Deb

She started the camps after her sister died of CF.
