Hi
Well my story is a bit different to Merlins in that I had no idea Lach would come early until at 29 weeks, my waters broke in the supermarket lol. I went home unpacked shopping, made Emma lunch then called my hubby. We went to our local hospital and after an examination we were told that we would be having our baby today! I was given steroids to help strengthen his lungs in preparation for a premmie delivery. They then said that they didn't have enough staff to deal with a premm, they have the equipment but no staff, so we were to be rushed up to Sydney but they weren't sure where there was a bed. So off we go in a road ambulance for a 3 hour drive, but still not sure which hospital we were going to. I was in labour at this stage, contractions coming fast and regular. My hubby had to take my 3 year old to mum's, and was driving up in our car. About 45mins into the journey we were told that we were able to go to Liverpool, so the ambos called Dave and let him know where I was going. The nurse that came with me was pretty scared that I would deliver in the ambulance not a good thing at 29 weeks, we actually thought I was only 28!! Any way about half an hour out of Syd the contractions came on, and I mean came on. I told the nurse that I felt something coming, she had a look and told the driver to step on it. So on went the lights, siren, the works. They told me that we went through 4 red lights to try and distract me I laughed, but inside was so scared. Once I got to the hospital I got the final steroid shot then was examined. I had an ultrasound which found Lach was standing up and there was no fluid and his foot was in my cervix. I knew something was coming out in the ambulance. I was then prepped for emergency C section, Then Dave arrived and we went in to operating theatre I don't think I have seen so many people in a room that small. There were 7 people for me and about 6 for Lach. When they pulled him out of my belly he cried which gave me a good indication that his lungs were quite strong, but then the doc started cutting me again, Lach's foot was stuck in my cervix!! Any way they got him out and rushed him away to NICU Dave went with him while I was sewn up and sent to recovery...........to be continued He needs me now |
