i was looking for a group for preemie babies but couldn't find one out there in the minti world, so i am starting one for all the families that have had a preemie or have just had a preemie.

and so that you all have somewhere were you can share your story or get advice and just have a talk to other mums and dads or even bothers and sisters that have gone through the whole experience of having a tiny preemie baby

Hey everyone,

My little angel was born at 30weeks on 24th Feb, 2007. She weighed 930 grams and was the tiniest, wee little angel. I had pre-eclampsia which was diagnsoed 3 days before i had my c-section. I was rushed to hospital by ambulence from a smaller hospital and was given streoids in both thighs straight away. The doctors and I tryed our very best to keep baby in for at least a week. But 3 days later they reckoned my little baby wasnt progressing well and they had to deliver her. All went well in the O.R and she was born screaming her little lungs out (to everyones surprise). She refused to have CPAP and was fine breathing on her own. I was so proud of her. My husband and I made many a trip to NICU over the next 8 weeks to watch her grow. By the time she was 8 weeks old, she was ready to come home. Oh what joy that was. Til now i never regret what i went through. She is growing so much and i am so very proud of her. She is so strong and yet so gentle. She slept through the night by the time she was 4 months actual age and she is such an easy baby. I am a stay at home mum n i love being with her every minute of the day. Although when her daddy comes home from work, shes all his. We love our little princess, she means the world to us.

Lachlans Story

Hi

Well my story is a bit different to Merlins in that I had no idea Lach would come early until at 29 weeks, my waters broke in the supermarket lol. I went home unpacked shopping, made Emma lunch then called my hubby. We went to our local hospital and after an examination we were told that we would be having our baby today! I was given steroids to help strengthen his lungs in preparation for a premmie delivery. They then said that they didn't have enough staff to deal with a premm, they have the equipment but no staff, so we were to be rushed up to Sydney but they weren't sure where there was a bed. So off we go in a road ambulance for a 3 hour drive, but still not sure which hospital we were going to. I was in labour at this stage, contractions coming fast and regular. My hubby had to take my 3 year old to mum's, and was driving up in our car. About 45mins into the journey we were told that we were able to go to Liverpool, so the ambos called Dave and let him know where I was going. The nurse that came with me was pretty scared that I would deliver in the ambulance not a good thing at 29 weeks, we actually thought I was only 28!! Any way about half an hour out of Syd the contractions came on, and I mean came on. I told the nurse that I felt something coming, she had a look and told the driver to step on it. So on went the lights, siren, the works. They told me that we went through 4 red lights to try and distract me I laughed, but inside was so scared. Once I got to the hospital I got the final steroid shot then was examined. I had an ultrasound which found Lach was standing up and there was no fluid and his foot was in my cervix. I knew something was coming out in the ambulance. I was then prepped for emergency C section, Then Dave arrived and we went in to operating theatre I don't think I have seen so many people in a room that small. There were 7 people for me and about 6 for Lach. When they pulled him out of my belly he cried which gave me a good indication that his lungs were quite strong, but then the doc started cutting me again, Lach's foot was stuck in my cervix!! Any way they got him out and rushed him away to NICU Dave went with him while I was sewn up and sent to recovery...........to be continued He needs me now
