Another exhausting day!

by JulesBComment Published at 23:0723:074 comments4 comments17 Visits17 VisitsReport

I feel shattered and it's only 4 in the afternoon! The twins and Jake have been up since 6am (and it's very cold and dark at that time) while Dan had his lie in. He and I take it in turns on the weekend and one of us gets up and looks after all 3 kids while the other one can stay in bed til 10am. It's his turn today and I'm normally not fussed except that this week i have had to work til nearly 7pm three nights and so I feel I have had almost not time out, if you know what i mean! He' s just taken them all to the park for an hour or so and i thought that would be a good time to jump on the laptop and see what's going on on Minti!

I hope someone else is interested in chatting on the subject of working Mums and i'm suprised there hasn't already been a group with that name. I know i'm not the only working Mum - particularly as I have my own business and we work with a lot of other Mums with their own businesses....come out, come out where ever you are!!!

Brill, now I feel dead lazy!  What sort of care are the kids in?  Does anyone else help you guys with their general care on a weekly basis?  If we had family nearby, I would rather pay them a little bit and get them to care for Jay, unfortunately ours are all in impractical places, as is my only friend who would be able to look after him.

Re: Another exhausting day!
Hi there. Well I have joined the group but I am also a member of working parents which is a group here too mind you it hasn't been visited for a while. I am a mum of teenagers and I work as a carer (in-home care) and look after young kids. I do have some say in the hours I work but I know what you mean by exhausted. My kids being older though does mean I slept in this morning.! Sorry

I'm surprised there wasn't one also

As with lightbee I'm a single working mum and studying as well.  I hope this group takes off! I hate having to work but on my income (when not working) it's just about impossible to stay home.  I was having to get food vouchers sometimes, had no phone or internet, had no computer even and was renting one bedroom for the 2 of us.  It just wasn't working out well.  So it was off to work for me, and off to daycare for my poor little angel.  I still think she deserves to be at home with me, but she didn't deserve the life we were living.  I got a year and a half with her at least before working part-time.

Re: Another exhausting day!

Hi there!

Welcome to Minti by the way!  No - you're definitely not the only working mum.  I'm a single mum and I work full-time.  Whether by necessity or choice its hard to say.  I really enjoy my job but I also usually enjoy time off with the kids so which is better?  I'm also studying so I definitely know what its like to juggle competing priorities!

Looking forward to the group!

Leith
