I was watching kids eat jelly cups yesterday. I think it's really gross considering where the gelatine comes from. Bleh. But I got to thinking, who was the first person to cut off a cow's hoof and decide to use its contents to cook with? Honestly, who would have done that? It's always amazing to find out what the ingredients in things are and thinking about the first person who did it. Like caviar, who thought to eat it? It looks disgusting and tastes foul, and the thought alone should be enough to make people stop and think that it's just gross. Makes you also wonder about the mentality of a person who decides to be the first to discover that things like gelatine have a use in cooking all sorts of things, both sweet and savoury. |
