Hola!!

I am new and am enjoying reading over some of your questions/posts. I looked for a agnostic or atheist group and could not find one, so I created one.

Maybe I am the only agnostic/atheist on this site? lol I doubt it, either way I would love to talk with other free thinking mommies and daddies!

Whenever I am asked "do i believe in God"

by ahimsaComment Published at 17:2617:262 comments2 comments50 Visits50 VisitsReport
I have to answer with a question in return "define what/who do you think God is" Most times the real question is "do you believe in the same concept of God that I have, if not ,why not because I know I am right!" Untill I am told what your idea of God is i can't answer. As we are ALL unique in our own right, we all see things in our own unique way, no two minds work the same. Ask 20 christians (or religious folk) to define God, religion or whats spiritual and you get 20 different answers each time. Ask the same person every 10 years and the answer will differ. If you look at my blogg you will find a answer that may or may not be of interest to you. cheers and blessings to you all.

just because i am not religious does not mean i hold it agains others!!

by mumof10Comment Published at 03:5103:512 comments2 comments59 Visits59 VisitsReport
Hi all. I myself am not religious but never am or nor should anyone predjudice anyone who choses a belief in god /religion. My husbands Mother and Father are jehovah witnesses but i do not worry about that as they do not push it on myself or my children.. Matter of fact they dont even see any of us myself, their son or their grandchildren.. How sad is that/ They prefer to have their religion than to worry about their children or should i really say their son(my husband) and his family. You see my son is the black sheep of the family in/out of trouble/jail soo i guess all i want to say is do not judge people from their religion everyone has different beliefs soo let others live the way they want without judgement or being abused.. Is christianity the only religion you people talk about

by pcgamesComment Published at 19:4819:486 comments6 comments124 Visits124 VisitsReport

Their are other religions out their not just christianity and you guys weren't the first religion anyway. Did or did not Jesus come for the Jews to warn them that they were going astray and to follow their lords commands and to reinforce the law he didn't come to convert people to a religion called christianity and by the way isn't his name arabic one would assume as he came from arab lands so where do people get off by calling him another name other than his own. I have done some background research and have found that all the arabs from Africa to Egypt and  Saudi Arabia all call him Esa bin Maryam, meaning Esa the son of Mary. And also in the bible it mentions the coming of the comforter this is not referring to Jesus  as he is the one stating this it refers to another man whom all the arabs call Mohammad. Now I know a lot of you out their probably don't like to hear the word Muslim but if you want to find the right religion should man not progress through them as he does everything else ,Why do people find it so hard to accept that fact.

As for the lady who asked the question about meeting rapists in heaven shes right what person in their right mind could accept that an act by my opinion only should have the death penalty would end up having tea and scones with you and even modern man wouldn't accept the punishment for acts that other people do so what makes you guys think Jesus would.

Isn't the sign about the last supper any proof that verily man is ungrateful.

Please explain? Religous contradictions.

by youngmumof2Comment Published at 21:0821:081 comments1 comments114 Visits114 VisitsReport

Ok firstly, no i don't have religion that i live my life by. This is probably due to not being brought up that way and lack of understanding. These questions are not intended to offend but to find answers to my own curiosity.

Ok my questions -

  • if adam and eve were first on earth how do you explain cavemen?
  • if adam and eve populated the earth how is that possible? they only had 2 sons?
  • if jesus is the son of god, who is his mother?
  • if god created all, who created God?
  • i wouldn't allow my MIL to tell me how to live my life, so why should i live my life the way a man who may or may not have existed, of whom i will never meet tell me what is best for my life?
  • how can a man who rapes women or children be given the same opportunity to go to "heaven" as a god believing and following man? sorry and all is forgiven? hard to understand that one. (If i was a parent of a child how had been raped, died and went to "heaven" then ran into the man who did it, i would fell betrayed. How about you?)

I do apologise to those this does offend. It was not my intention. If i had a few answers to these questions maybe i could believe that there was some truth to all the God stuff. I do respect those who believe but i just can't when there is such contradiction in the well written story, The Bible.

WHAT DOES GOD MEAN TO ME

by pcgamesComment Published at 15:4715:470 comments0 comments89 Visits89 VisitsReport
O.K. I can see no-one is answering the question God means to me a way of life through submission to him and following the way of the prophets. To believe in the angels and the books he has sent down, to submit to HIM so you can attain paradise through your actions and deeds. Their is eternal life after this world and to get into either heaven or go to hell you will be judged by HIM on judgement day.And as for being anything else if someone does not believe in GOD then his only sin is disbelief because how can you judge them on something they deny BUT every soul knows the trurh and every soul will be judged and no other person can intercede for them on that day.

To stir the pot

by sellyComment Published at 19:4919:4920 comments20 comments230 Visits230 VisitsReport
You may hate me but i'll say it anyway.
God means nothing to me! Christianity is nothing but a fake and harmful religion. Anybody that is different they kill or mock.
Pagans killed, blackman killed, Indian-american killed.
Being pagan i have felt the full blow of this. "You whorshipped the devil" hummm "NO I DO NOT!" The devil is a christain deitiy not a pagan one, so how can i whorship something i dont believe in???? How about the book "mallues maleficarum" (The witch's hammer) Its basicially, 101 way to name and kill a witch. This is a christian book. What happened to love thy neighbour? Roman catholics are the worst. They start all the killings. Give a man power and they'll abuse it. Thats why you'll never see a female pope. Even to this day pagan are hated by the church. The pagan religion is a loving one. The main wiccan law is "do as you will, but harm ye none" And whats the christian one? Thy shall not judge? BUT ALL CHRISTIANS DO IT!!! If you really do believe in your god, why dont you follow his rules. I hope this has spread some light to others. Blessed Be.

God means...

by LeahMurrayComment Published at 11:2811:284 comments4 comments218 Visits218 VisitsReport
I've been a Christian my whole life but just this past year did I re-dedicate my life to Chrst. I've just found myself again. My parents divorced when I was young and iI found myself blaming God for alot of things that went wrong in my life wehn I was a teenager. I rebeled alot when I was younger and Christ was not part of my life then. I then met my future husband got pregnant and was told that being an epiletic that spina bifida could be a problem for my un-born child. I was scared to death and started to pray. God was there for ME. My baby was born healthy. God means everything to me. God is my light in the morning, God is the light is my children's eyes, my children's straight spines that I prayed for. God is good!!! Although my husband is not a Christian I pray for him every day and I know that everybody at my church does as well. I have made many good friends at my little church that God has brought me to again. It was the chuch that I attended when I was a little girl. Talk about a full circle!!! God really wanted me!! God means the world to me, He and I are friends!

A little peeved

by elizabethComment Published at 15:1315:134 comments4 comments179 Visits179 VisitsReport
I am surprised that in a religious debate group, no one has been willing to answer my question about what God means to them. I know it is not an easy question to answer but that is why I asked it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

But you dont see witches preeching. Anyway i'm always open for a challenge.

GOD?

by elizabethComment Published at 16:0016:008 comments8 comments215 Visits215 VisitsReport
I was raised a catholic, my husband was raised a catholic. Growing up like everyone I suppose, I had many questions about my religion that still remain unanswered. My husband's mother is Muslim, and his father is Romanian orthodox. We talked alot about religion and politics. Sometimes agreeing and often not. My question to this group, is what does GOD mean for You?

Help don't hinder

by RachallComment Published at 22:5522:550 comments0 comments123 Visits123 VisitsReport
Some people just go verboard when it comes to sharing their beleif. I am also a Christian but would prefer to show people how God can help them rather eg treat them right and help them in whatever way I can, than "bible bash" or "preach" to them.

I do tell my friends that I am a Christian, but if they want to know anything they can then ask me. No point in driving peole away because you are a Christian or whatever religion you are. How can you help them then?

A Heart after God

by julielfComment Published at 18:2418:240 comments0 comments105 Visits105 VisitsReport
I am a christian and don't really want to "debate" the whole christian belief, however what I would say is that God has given us choices.  God is a God of grace and not a God who will force Himself onto anyone.  People are entitled to believe whatever they wan't to believe.  Even God is not going to tell you what to believe.    I believe that He longs for you to believe in Him but is a gentle God and will wait for you to be ready.

The question though is - who is right - and what consequences are there?  If you have chosen to believe in something other than God then what is the eternal consequence.  If I am wrong then there really is not bad consequence for me but if those who do not believe are wrong then I believe that there are dire consequences.

I am sharing this out of a heart of humility and not from someone who thinks that they know it all.  Search your own heart.  Pray to God - even if you don't belive in Him and ask Him to show you if He is real.  Then you will know without a shadow of doubt.

What is the use of arguing.  That's not what God or whoever it is that you believe in - wants.

Sharing out of a peaceful heart.

Differences are what makes life fascinating

by GirraweenComment Published at 16:5916:593 comments3 comments159 Visits159 VisitsReport

Personally I think all the differences in the world are what makes life and the people around us so very interesting.  It isn't religion which brings about the bloodshed and hate, rather it is how people twist and turn things to their own agenda.  I have friends from all religions and love learning about each.  Each to their own ... discuss beliefs but draw the line at preaching or judging others.

Not For Me

by angelmumComment Published at 13:3913:3916 comments16 comments514 Visits514 VisitsReport
There is two things I will not argue, debate, etc.... and that is religion and Politics, the world is full of so many different religions and belief's that has caused so much fighting and bloodshed.  So I prefer to have my belief's and respect others whether I think they are right or not, who am I to judge or debate someone else's belief. So I don't think I will be joining in any arguments on religion in this group.
