Ok firstly, no i don't have religion that i live my life by. This is probably due to not being brought up that way and lack of understanding. These questions are not intended to offend but to find answers to my own curiosity.
Ok my questions -
- if adam and eve were first on earth how do you explain cavemen?
- if adam and eve populated the earth how is that possible? they only had 2 sons?
- if jesus is the son of god, who is his mother?
- if god created all, who created God?
- i wouldn't allow my MIL to tell me how to live my life, so why should i live my life the way a man who may or may not have existed, of whom i will never meet tell me what is best for my life?
- how can a man who rapes women or children be given the same opportunity to go to "heaven" as a god believing and following man? sorry and all is forgiven? hard to understand that one. (If i was a parent of a child how had been raped, died and went to "heaven" then ran into the man who did it, i would fell betrayed. How about you?)
I do apologise to those this does offend. It was not my intention. If i had a few answers to these questions maybe i could believe that there was some truth to all the God stuff. I do respect those who believe but i just can't when there is such contradiction in the well written story, The Bible. |

questions
I don't know if my sleep deprived brain can give you any kind of answers, but you seem to be asking genuine questions so I'll have a quick go before I head for bed! Sorry if it doesnt make sense, ask me again!
- cavemen - dunno, but we don't know everything about everything so maybe one day we'll make sense of the two strands of ideas
- Adam & Eve only have 3 named sons in the Bible, but they (A&E) aparently lived nearly 1000 years, so I'm sure they didnt stop there (how far apart would you space ur kids if you were going to be able to conceive for 100s of years - thats an idea to go to sleep on!)
- the virgin Mary, so the Bible says
- God exists in the "Eternal Now", with no beginning or end (dont ask me to explain how, my brain aint that big!) so he exists in another dimension and sees our temporal existence all at once. A bit like standing infront of the Bayeux Tapestry I guess. If science cant explain how nothing became something, then dont hold it against religion if it cant think outside the box either - we're just falible beings. We dont expect a 2 year old to explain how the car works before he sits in it to go to the park....!
- God doesnt order us how to live like a dictator; its more like how we all hope to be with our kids when they're grown up - we hope they'll ask us for our wise experienced advice rather than learn things the hard way, but do they...? And historians accept that there was a Jewish man who the Greek name for is Jesus (think Hebrew is Yeshua - excuse spelling!) who lived in the Galillean Region of the Roman Province of Judea in the 1st Century AD, there's enough independant documentation for that. The question is more, who do you think he was from reading his teachings (try Googling "Sermon on the Mount" or try wikipedia), not, did he exist.
- who gets into heaven - glad thats not my job to decide! I could tie myself in knots worrying about that, but at the end of the day, I'm responsible for me, you're responsible for you, etc. Its not just about "sorry" - we all know how easily a kid says sorry to avoid punnishment, but then goes and does it again - was she really sorry deep down? Sorry she got caught, of course! The Bible says God sees the heart, he's no pushover. At the end of the day, the point is that there's nothing I can do that God cant meet me down there as my best friend and loving parent and help me back from.
These of course are my opinions, written with a sleeping baby in one arm, and a "mummy-brain" - I really hope they help and dont offend!
