When do you think it's a good time to introduce the different backgrounds of your child to your child?

When and how to let your child know their background

It has been apart of their lives since they were born, grandparents from both sides would have it no other way which I think is great. My kids have a great mix of both their most recent heritages - Aussie and Samoan. I say to my daughter she is an Aussie, my husband says no you are a Samoan Aussie, I say an Aussie with Samoan heritage.. she gets it..we are proud of all our heritages.

I think it is important from beginning as it not only teaches our kids where their heritage's are but to educate them on the multicultural society along the way - really my kids are Aussie,Samoan,Portugese, German, English, French, American Indian so they have alot to learn.

We never did. Its just something that is a part of their lives. My girl is almost 7 and seems to understand a little of her heritage. We call the kids mozzies so they know Dad was born in NZ and mum in Aus. I wish they knew more about the culture but hopefully we can get to NZ  for the real deal.
