Hi every one ,

I hope some one can pls give me some tips, i am 5 months pregnant and have just finally after 12 years of being wrongly diagnoised with depression been told that in fact I have Bi-polar but the down side is they wont start me on medication till afterbubba is born.

Any suggestions on ways to cope or good books etc?

Many thanks in advance

re: hello
Hey just reading your post about having bi polar my sister was diagnosed with it and I have worked in the mental health area as a support worker for mental health here in brissie but these were for people who had lived in insitutions being intergrated back nto society. All I can suggest is make sure you eat healthy and get lots of physical actvity probably stuff you all ready are aware of. I am not sure if you have looked into any natural threapies as well like accupressure or accupuncture gardening is also good if you are able to do that. There is heaps of stuff but just depends on what you are able to afford or even do for yourself. But whatever you do just check it with your dr as well and let them know what you are doing. Do you have a strong support network of friends and family if you dont then maybe this would be a good time to get one or work on one.

hi there,

my lil sister has bi-polar she was diagnosed last year.. over the past 12 months she has been on so many different sorts of medications all of which made her either drowsy (which meant she couldnt work) or more on edge.. she has beeen off medication for almost 3 months now and instead she regulary see a dr and keeps herself busy.. she walks alot and she said taking all sugary drinks and foods out of her diet made a huge difference, she also said that swimming or jus moving around in the water. she said she has a weekly routine set out. she walks every morning with the dog, swims 4 times a week, sees her dr 2 times a week, writes everything in a diary everyday. and does things to stimulate the brain (but not things that might get her fustrated like crosswords) she said to do things that you injoy that make you feel good. she said that if you focus on thos things all the time hopefully (like her) you will start to feel better..

all the best from both myself and my sister.. hope this helps alittle bit..
