Anti-depressants - Zoloft

by Destiiny23Comment Published at 03:5803:583 comments3 comments138 Visits138 VisitsReport
Hi...
i just found this site and wanted to know if anyone can tell me, who takes Zoloft or the generic brand of it and how long did it take for it to kick in... and what kind of side effects would you say you got? From what i've read elsewhere it said it can give people suicidal effects and hallucinations and Im thinking this isnt good.... My husband has just started taking Zoloft (well the generic brand of it) and I really hope it will start helping him as at the moment (if people have been reading my personal blogs), i am right at the edge with patience with him to top off with my own depression....
Thanks

Re: Anti-depressants - Zoloft
I took it for a while but after 3 months my doctor took me off them.  I was feeling suicidal, and my levels of stress and anxiety were increasing by the day.  As if I needed medication to make things worse for me! So I stopped taking them.  Suffer from anxiety and depression but not feeling suicidal anymore.  It took about a month to start to have any effect.  Having said that though a close relative of mine takes them and has never felt more alive, happy and settled in her life.

Maybe this will help him through too hun.  I've been following your story and if it helps him, then that will be good.  Keep up being positive and remember we are here for you.

Re: Anti-depressants - Zoloft
For me it was obviously working after only a week, but I was told by the dr to expect it to take 3 weeks.  It still took time but I felt better after a week - partly that may have been admitting it and getting support.  The only side effects i had were very vivid dreams for a few months and then even that settled - if I woke up at night I would see spiders everywhere (my fear!) - then I would blink and they were gone.  A bit freaky but not too bad.  Other friends have told me they were hallucinating, so changed medication.  just wait and see, as everyone is different, but if you are concerned that the side effects are too serious , go back and ask for a change!
