Garbage Pail Kids

by superpoComment Published at 16:2916:2912 comments12 comments33 Visits33 VisitsReport

I was sooooo into these when I was about 12. They were these cards you collected with gross versions of Cabbage Patch-like Kids on them. They had a hard stick of gum in 'em that I don't think anyone ever chewed. I wish I could remember some of the names of them!

DVD? Does that mean there's a movie? I can only imagine how gross it must be. Some of those characters can really make your stomach turn!

Yes I remember them and I'm sure my husband still has a couple of the cards, I'll have to go and have a look.

haha yes i remember them. Weren't they the ones that were ugly and battered looking. Sort of like anti- cabbage patch. And they said they were bad for kids lol. Didn't they have a range of merchandise as well?

Now it comes to me. The very first GPK were in plastic dolls with them in garbage cans. There was a protest too by parents who said they were gross.

Well they were LOL LOL

There were dolls? Really? I certainly don't remember that! Oh, yuck. I can't imagine wanting one. Was the idea to try and get boys to buy dolls? Definitely more a boy concept.

Re: Garbage Pail Kids

300! The trick was to get all the pairs, wasn't it? There'd be two that looked exactly alike but had different names, and there was always a pair that'd be hard to get both so you'd keep buying...

Good times, good times...

Are they the Garbage gang ones that were stickers? We still have them on the fridge at my mum's place. I can't help with the names but they were funny. Some of them glowed in the dark...We used to give the gum to my brother, he loved it. It was the sort of gum that you would chew for 5 minutes then break your Jaw...

That's right! They were stickers, weren't they?! I wouldn't be surprised if I've still go a couple lying around somewhere. I've moved so many times everything gets lost somewhere, only to be found 20 years down the line!
