bidding

by ajv00Comment Published at 02:5602:564 comments4 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport

I'm bidding on a item on ebay haven't done so in awhile and welll... I think it has all changed you see the item has 3 days to go and we entered out highest price which was approx $30 or so above the price bidded.   When I go and look at the item it says that I am the highest bidder but just under the bidding price box in faded writing it says enter more tha $.....  (my highest price)

Can they say that? I thought they would say enter more than (the previous price that was entered)  I thought your bid was supposed to be private or silent.  That none was supposed to see what your highest price is.

Has ebay changed??  I hope that all made sense.

Re: bidding
i know what your talking about :) when u put a highest bid of $30 other people cant see that and they can bid like 50cents above the amount the item is now but if u have put in $30 as a highest bid u cant make another bid below that so if u wanna raise your bid YOU can only bid above $30 only YOU everyone else bids from the price the item is now. hope that makes sense?

Re: bidding

If you have entered $30 as your highest bid, until someone else goes above that bid you don't need to worry.  It will tell you if you have been outbid.  I think that is just the way it is done, i have noticed a few changes since i've been on ebay, but i think you are seeing the 'general' bidding screen and others don't see your highest bid.....if that makes sense!

Re: bidding

I haven't noticed a change - were you still signed in?  It could be that it is telling you that is your highest bid "but you can still miss out" and prompting you to put a higher one in.  Maybe go and look while you are not signed in or send me the item link and I can check for you.

Re: bidding

Thank you so much, I can stop stressing now.  I logged out and then went and had a look at the item and it stated under the bidding price to enter to a few dollars more than the last price.  So I am happy about that.

I am guessing that cause I entered a high price that I can't go under that if I bidd again.
