Common Curtesy goes a long way

by ajv00Comment Published at 15:4015:407 comments7 comments39 Visits39 VisitsReport

We bought a play gym off ebay and it is really good my partner went to pick it up.  The lady said that she had sprayed it.   When I looked at the item when my partner came home it was filthy.  I spent along time with a bucket and sponge cleaning it, b4 putting it together.

I am just wondering how some people have a conscious to be able to sell stuff in such a conditon.  I realise that the play gym was an outside item, it looked fairly clean in the picture and she made no mention of how clean or dirty it was in the decription of the item.   But I just reckon that she has no conscious, to me comon curtesy goes along way!!!

I am sorry that I gave her a postive feed back.  I should have made it neutral!

Re: Common Curtesy goes a long way

I know how you feel.  We bought a video card from a guy on ebay and paid by paypal..two weeks later no card so we messaged the guy and he abused us and said we had to pay an extra $10 for using paypal but in the description we could choose postage and thats what we did so we contacted paypal and lodged a no receive thing and paypal found in his favour as he said he posted the item.  We never ever got it and he gave us a negative after all the abuse hurled at us and paypal went in his favour he must of produced a false australia post receipt and he done it to many many people i just wish we knew what he was like some sellers shouldn't be allowed to sell...worse thing is he got away with it and still sells! we lost $250.00 money we didnt have really.  So I think what happened to you is terrible too.  I bought Kaleb a train this year and it didnt' work as batteries were so corroded but the lady was great i sent it back free of charge and she refunded everything so they aren't all bad. Good luck in future.

Nikki xx

Hmmm, i would never sell anything unles it was spotless and then i always mention faults.  Although recently someone said a bunch of baby clothing  i sold was old and faded....i was a bit miffed because i described every item, whether they had any marks or fading and some items were only as old since xmas.....i guess she was expecting brand new.  To top it off she did a cod pickup and i gave her an extra bag of stuff....gee thanks!  Oh well, the only negative comment i've had and she did rate positive, bit strange.

That's a shame!  I had one last week where the seller made an error and said in the title that something was new when it was not.  She was apologetic when I pointed it out but I am still annoyed.  We all make mistakes, but sellers (and I am one so I say it fairly) need to take care of their buyers - be honest, clean it up and make sure your ad is accurate.  Did you email her?

Wouldn't happen if you got it from us, but we only sell through Oztion because ebay seems to be heading south.

And you should have left neutral!!!!  I have for people sending the wrong item in the past, even though I ended up keeping the item, and I've always sent them a message explaining why too.  Response:  Oh, I didn't check the item number properly and will exchange if you like, but if you are happy with the item, then I'm happy too.  Don't worry about the neutral, it was my mistake and I'm just thankful to not get a negative.

And, I have traded with them again since, with no hassles! lol.

Some people just don't think it matters I suppose.  You should charge her a cleaning fee, say $15!

That is just wrong! You always clean something before you sell it to someone - this woman obviously has no conscience!

Re: Common Curtesy goes a long way

yeah i know what you mean thats why i stay clear but she played it smart. technically she may have sprayed it but the question is when.

thats why even when we see something in writing we need to be cautious. physchologically  we automatically assume that it was freshly sprayed. we make assumptions.

advertisements on tv and newspapers "telemarketing" us constantly people being caught out changing phone companirs or any utilities because they associate words.

also remember they are trying to sell so they "sell themselves" we take that risk.

thats why i wont buy anything electrical second hand. not that all goods are faulty but in the long run  i dont want hassles.

i even bought a new washing machine. i had a fisher &paykel washing machine that i had brand new and it would wash but not draw out the water. it was only five years old.

rather than bring a repairman (its not worth it ) i bought a  brand new one. i have it sitting there till hubby looks at it. i will take it to my holiday home if hubby can repair .

otherwise i will sell it to a repair guy on the cheap.

cheers annie
