No one offers the pregnant girl a seat on the train or bus!

by missnickleyComment Published at 23:1223:127 comments7 comments41 Visits41 VisitsReport

I got on the train yesterday morning and it was packed (as usual) so I looked for a seat and there was not one spare (usually there is at least one) so I ended up standing in the isle.
Then, at the next stop, 2 guys rudely asked me to get out of their way so they could get off, it was their stop! Dont worry about just getting up one stop early and letting me sit down, god forbid!
I hate asking for a seat, I will in the afternoons if I have to as by the end of the day I just cant hack standing 1/2 hour on the train but come on guys, cant one person just offer me a seat????

Re: No one offers the pregnant girl a seat on the train or bus!
looks like mothing has changed!!! 25 years ago when i worked in the city i was coming home after work train broke down we had to get off the train on a step ladder for elderly and the sick but it was so disorganised that i had a couple of men help me down then we had to walk to he next closest station well it wa peak absolutely packed and the guys all had their noses in the newspapers. in those days the evening newspaper wa called "the herald" and it was much longer in size than your current herald sun. anyway at another stop a man gets on or tries to get on that worked in the air force he had his uniform on and he bellowed for evryone to move further in the train as others were trying to get on, having a uniform on they all did as he said then another man standing turned and said if you think thats bad "theres a pregnant woman here stnding up" all of a sudden the men that were sitting sown with their noses buried in the newspaper stood up and offered me a seat . of course i could only sit on one of these seats but two other ladies took advantage and sat on the other two. until this day i still remember this and im ever so grateful for that man for "caring about my state of health" cheers annie

I noticed that it's not just public transport.  When I was pregnant and took my daughter swimming, no one would offer me a seat while I was waiting for her.  When I was growing up I was brought up to offer my seat to pregnant women, the elderly and mothers with young kids.

I've only had that problem on the gold coast, but I've been fine standing any way.  especially the closer I got to my due dates, every bump was supposed to shake that baby out! lol.  It is actually good for you to stand up on the bus or train.  Why? because you are forced to use your tummy muscles and it really tightens them up.  Pitty about the feet not coping as well though.

Things have gotten bad. My mum who is her early 60's & I caught the train when I was 8 mths pregnant & we had to stand up all the way to melbourne(an hour ride) while drunken teenagers sprawled in their seats & threw up in the ailse.

That is just plain rude! There are desiganted seats for elderly and pregnant women.

Have you seen the add where the pregnant woman hits some guy over the head with a blow up baseball bat when he wont offer his seat? Classic!
