FAQs for Minti Moolah / Gifts / Compliments / Surveys

1.     What are m$ ?

m$ is the symbol for “Minti Moolah”. It is a reward system and equivalent to currency within the Minti community.

2.     What can m$ be used for?

You can buy and send virtual gifts to your Minti friends. You can send your m$ to your Minti friends using Vouchers. You can exchange (cash out) m$ for real currency using a PayPal account.

3.     What is PayPal?

PayPal is a website/service which makes it very easy (and secure) to send and receive money through the internet. It is free and very easy to sign up, just go to www.paypal.com  ( Australia: www.paypal.com.au , UK: www.paypal.co.uk )

4.     What does “Moolah” mean?

Moolah is an informal (slang) term for “money”. i.e. Show me the Moolah!... equates to “show me the money!”.

5.     How can I earn m$?

As of the launch date (March 2008), you can earn m$ by the following activities…
* Referring a friend to Minti and they successfully sign up via the link in your referral email, and verify their account.
* Your referred friend writes a good quality article.
* Completing surveys.
* Being active on the Minti website (writing articles, voting, commenting etc…)
If you want to get more Moolah fast then you can also buy m$ using PayPal… see relevant questions below.

6.     What is a gift?

A gift on Minti is a virtual gift. It is an image which signifies a token of appreciation. You can send and receive gifts to and from any Minti member.

7.     Why would I send a gift?

Because you are nice, and are into spreading MintiLove around the place J

8.     Can you receive more than 1 of each gift?

As at launch (Mar 2008) you can only receive 1 of each gift (this may change in the future). This also means that if a member has a gift already you can not buy/send them that same gift.

9.     Can I give a gift anonymously?

Yes you can (if you really want to), simply click the “Give gift anonymously” check box when sending the gift.

10. Can I give a gift privately?

Um, kind of. You can choose an option so that people can not see what the Gift Tag says and who it is from. The gift will still show in the recipients Gift Case, however other members will not know who sent it or what the message was. To do this simply un-check the “Show message” box when sending the gift.

11. Can I attach a message to a gift?

Yes, we call it a “gift tag”. Just type your heartfelt message in the gift tag box when sending the gift.

12. What is a Voucher?

A Voucher is more commonly known as a gift Voucher. A Voucher enables members to give m$ to a Minti friend. Vouchers come in set amounts (ie: m$2000, m$3000, etc), you can not buy a gift Voucher for m$2431 for example.

13. Why would I send a Voucher?

* Because you are a nice person J
* Maybe someone is in a little financial trouble and some Minti members are joining together and sending m$ to this member.
* You may appreciate something that another Minti member has done?
perhaps members who have written inspirational advice articles or made a difference to you in your life.

14. Can I attach a Voucher to a gift?

Yes, the default is “no Voucher”, however you can easily add a Voucher using the drop down menu when sending a gift to someone.

15. What if I don’t have enough m$ to buy a gift?

You can either be more active on Minti, refer more friends to Minti, or you can buy m$ or gifts with real cash, see the questions and answers just below…

16. Can I buy a gift using real dollars/cash?

Yes, either purchase (deposit) m$ using your Credit Card or your own PayPal account (easy to set up, see PayPal Q&A above) on your m$ account summary page.  Or, you can pay for a single gift (or Voucher) via Credit Card/PayPal as you send it to a Minti member.

17. Can I buy m$ with real dollars?

Yes, you can purchase (deposit) m$ using your PayPal account (free and easy to set up, see PayPal Q&A above) on your m$ account summary page.

18. When can I cash out m$?

You can cash out your m$ once your available balance has reached the minimum level for cash out. Currently (as at April 2008) the minimum level is m$5000 (USD$10).  This limit may change, however it will be made public if it does.

19. When I cash-out where does my money go?

If you cash-out m$ we deposit your real money into your PayPal account.  You need to have a PayPal account.  It is very easy and free to set up (US: www.paypal.com , Australia www.paypal.com.au , UK www.paypal.co.uk).  PayPal can transfer the money directly to your bank account.

20. How do I set up a PayPal account?

Simply go to your countries PayPal website and sign up. For US residents go to www.paypal.com . For Australian residents go to www.paypal.com.au . UK residents go to www.paypal.co.uk . For all others recommend you visit www.paypal.com and it should be fairly simple to find your countries specific PayPal website

21. Does PayPal charge a fee when cashing out?

Yes they do. You can see their fees here (http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside) ,and here is a great PayPal fee calculator (http://ppcalc.com/).

22. How much are m$ worth in real dollars?

As of launch date (Mar 2008) we have set an exchange rate of m$500 = USD$1.00 . This may change in future.

23. What if I don't have a PayPal account?

Currently we only use PayPal when handling real dollar payments, however your purchases can be made with a Credit Card even if you don’t have a PayPal account. It is free and easy to set up a PayPal account at the following PayPal websites… US: www.paypal.com , Australia: www.paypal.com.au , UK: www.paypal.co.uk

24. Do you only pay in US$?  How can I convert that to my local currency?

We use PayPal when converting m$ to real money and the default for this is US$. PayPal will deposit the funds into your PayPal account in your desired (default) currency (ie: AUD for Australian PayPal members).

25. What is a "handling fee”?

On a few processes, like when you cash-out m$ for real dollars, Minti charges a small “handling fee”. We also charge a handling fee when buying and sending a gift or a Voucher, however the price that we quote for the gift (and Voucher) is inclusive of the handling fee (ie: you are not charged extra).

26. When I cash out, how quickly do I get my m$?

Minti reviews the withdrawal for 7 days (to review and catch fraudulent transactions), and then it is released from Minti to PayPal. PayPal then has it’s own time delay for reviewing the transaction.

27. How long do my m$ last?

If you have not logged into Minti for over 3 months, your account is deemed inactive and your m$ are returned to Minti.

28. Why is there a minimum cash-out threshold?

There are two main reasons for a minimum cash-out.
* PayPal charges a minimum fee for a transaction, so there needs to be a minimum cash-out threshold.
* Logistically for Minti it would be a nightmare to allow any level of cash-out.

29. How can I benefit from the m$ and Gift system?

You can earn “real dollars”, and also in your heart you will feel good about sending and receiving gifts or Vouchers to other members.

30. What are Gift Sets?

We have arranged gifts into sets (ie: a baby theme, get well theme, etc). You can send and receive a separate gift or you can send and receive entire gift sets (these come at a discount).

31. Do gifts or m$ affect my ranking on Minti?

No.

32. Does my rank on Minti help me earn more m$?

The short answer is “quite possibly”. The medium answer is “the first couple of shields are all rewarded the same m$, however after a certain shield level you get rewarded more per m$ earning activity per shield”. The long answer is “it’s a black box and only Minti Admin knows the secret ;)” but for those who are highly ranked on Minti we give you a higher reward per action.

33. What does "pending" m$ mean?

Pending means the amount is under review and will either clear or be rejected within a maximum of 7 days. Minti needs to review activity to catch fraudulent activity/transactions. Once a transaction has been cleared from “pending” it will be added to your “Earnings + Deposits” amount and also your “Available m$” amount.

34. What is a Gift Case?

This is where gifts are stored and displayed.

35. What is a Compliment?

Similar to gifts a Minti Compliment is a small image that you can give to other Minti members. Compliments do not cost anything (m$ or real dollars), however you can only give “one compliment type to each member once”.  Once you have given a specific member one of the range of compliments it will no longer show up as available to you for that member again..

36. Can I receive more than 1 of each type of compliment.

Yes you can, however not from the same member. Ie: You could have received 100 “Super Mum” compliments from 100 different members, however each member can only send you 1 of each type of compliment.

37. Do I receive m$ for completing surveys?

For most Surveys you do, though some are just there for fun and you may not earn m$ from completing them.

38. Do I receive m$ for updating surveys?

It depends on the survey. Some will allow updates, and some of these “may” reward you with m$ for updating them, although most will not.

39. Where do I find Surveys to complete?

When logged in as a member you should see a “Surveys” link in your left hand navigation bar.

40. Can my m$ earnings be penalized?

Yes, if you only vote 5 stars for nearly everything you read, and fail to vote realistically using a range of star-rankings, you may find your m$ earning rate declines.

41. Can my m$ earnings be deleted?

Yes, if you breach the Terms of Service (which have been updated for Minti Moolah now) or if you breach the Code of Honor then you may have your account deleted and your Minti Moolah will be lost.  You may only have one account with Minti, any duplicate accounts or suspicious attempts to earn Moolah which are not in the spirit of the Minti code of honor will likely result in loss of m$.
