Nike Not Such Good Sports...

by llmunchkinComment Published at 19:0519:056 comments6 comments54 Visits54 VisitsReport

I guess this is a form of tongue in cheek, it is a great way to give feedback to a major company that is digging it's heels in.

However there is also a Nike Campaign on the Global Exchange site, that shows the more serious side of this sporting goods supplier.

Still Waiting For Nike To Do It

I sure don't think the swoosh is so swish anymore, and I won't be gearing up in their gear until they clean up their act.

Re: Nike Not Such Good Sports... Check Out The Competition:

Yes Julie, I had a feeling that they would be the tip of the ice-burg, and I will be looking into it further and checking out a few companies.  Here is an article about Adidas, Reebok, Rockport, Fila & Others... (Luckily none of these make my footy or boxing gear - but I'll be checking those that do).

Such a shame that they will pay millions for a sports 'star' to endorse their product but pay workers .60c per day or was it per hour? i forget! but whatever still a pittance, to slave away making the product.....it's shameful and now i no why i've never been into brand names.

Nike is very well known for it's not so humanitarian stance on things!  That add was very funny.  Reebok was another one that used sweat shops to produce it's products.....speaking of tongue in cheek....glad to see nothings changed!

Yes, it is pretty thought provoking... We buy a lot of sports gear for footy, kickboxing, and general play.  I will be taking a closer look at the brands that we use, and be far more discerning.
