Hi Everyone,
I received an email and thought i would share this as it sounds like a home remedy we all can use these cold winter months. I dont know if it is true but i dont think there is any hurt trying it out. Comment if you have heard of this and if it worked out for you if you try it.
NEW USE FOR VICKS VAPORUB
WOW! I was raised, and raised my kids with Vicks. How come I never knew
this? I can't wait for my next cough. Amazing!
READ IT ALL. It works 100 percent of the time, although the scientists at
the Canada Research Council (who discovered it) aren't sure why.
To stop night-time coughing in a child (or an adult, as we found out
personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at
bedtime and then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing
will stop in about five minutes, and stay stopped for many, many hours of
relief. This works 100 percent of the time and is more effective in
children than even very strong prescription cough medicines.
In addition, it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep
soundly. I heard the head of The Canada Research Council describe these
findings by their scientists when they were investigating the effectiveness
and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to
alternative therapies like acupressure.
I just happened to tune in to a.m. Radio and picked up this guy talking
about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the
chemical make-up of these strong drugs, so I listened. It was found to be
more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime and in
addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then
went on to sleep soundly.
My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and
persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100 percent! She said it
felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her. The coughing stopped in a few
minutes, and believe me, this was a deep (incredibly annoying every few
seconds!), uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough-free for hours every
night she used it. If you end up sick, try it yourself and you will be
absolutely amazed at the effect.
Pass this on - especially to those with children or grandchildren. |

Hi guys,
For most the humble mozzie bit will be nothing but an itch and a pain in the neck but for some this bite can turn into a few days of hell. If you are one of the unlucky ones then it is most likely because you are allergic to the mozzie.
If you are one of the unlucky ones then I strongly suggest that you get yourself some antihistamine tablets. My eldest is one of the unlucky and we went through several varieties of antihistamine before we found one that worked the best. We had the best success with Phenergan Tablets . .
Most of you probably know that these tablets also come in liquid for the really young ones so if your younger one has large red and very angry bites than you may wish to consider giving this medication to them . .
Bathing can be a nightmare when it comes to mozzie bites as it tends to aggravate them so here a a few tips to help.
- Do not use towels to dry the area (patting or rubbing upsets the bite)
- Dry the mozzie bite area with your hair dryer set on the coolest setting
- Try to wear loose fitting cotton clothing. (tight fitting clothing will only aggravate the bites)
- Keep your clothing a breathable as possible. (thick and heavy clothing are bad because they overheat the bite)
I hope these few tips help. Some others relief from Calamine Lotion but this can also aggravate the bite and when the lotion cools it shrinks and hardens which seems to only make the bite become itchy. If you must put a cram on then use and anti-itch cream such as Stingos or even some thrush cream . . .
I hope this helps
Cheers Kellz |

Hi guys,
It's time for another video and this is another serious topic . . Breast Cancer. So many women DON'T take the time to do a simple breast examination and the reason for this is that they just don't know how . . SO here is a video on the simple process, this video is made by a doctor and is very simple and easy to follow . .
Can you afford NOT to check yourself ! ! ! !

My babies just got pink eye, conjuctivitis. My girl got rid of it in a matter of days, but my son still has it a bit. Something I found to really help, it's better then the ointment is....Breat Milk. Yeah, I heard about it long time ago, and hubby told me the other day to do it. So I did, the poor boy screamed while I cleaned his eyes and squeezed a few drops over each eye. When he opened the milk went in and within hours the redness was gone and the goop as too. His eyes looked really well. Though I only did it a couple of times, it made a big difference!! So if you're babies ever have pink eye try it! |

I always have plasters for when the boys have micro cuts from playing, yet when one of them has a "real" cut there is not a plaster in the entire house Grrrrr
What is it about kids and plasters, I am so sick of them helping themselves to plasters for the stupid marks that arent even bleeding LOL
Tonight whilst playing Daniel cut his knee and took a small chunk out, nothing major but as you can imagine lots of blood amongst the lots of mud !!!!! (rolling eyes !!!)
Anyway as I wasn't allowed anywhere near the cut I put him in the bath to soak away the mud so I could get a proper look, it was obvious I needed to do something as there was a kind of 'flap' so I go to the medicine cupboard to find nothing but empty boxes of antiseptic wipes, creams and plasters, thus began a drive around to the local shop to get some plasters
Lets see how long these last eh ???? |

Hey Guys!
Okay, Libby24 and I have finally set a date and time for this presentation thing. It will be at my house (I'm in Kelmscott), on Thurs 27th March (this Thurs) at 10am. If there is anyone else who is interested in seeing a presentation on the tea-tree products I use, just let me know, as I will need to know numbers beforehand. You will not be required to buy anything - it's information only. I already have a few people coming, and just want to see if anyone else is interested

Hi Guys!
I hope you don't mind me putting this here, but I got a few responses asking about the products I use around my home (see my blog for me info) and so Liz (Libby24) and I are going to host a presentation on the products. We have yet to decide on a date and time, but was wondering how many people here in Perth would be interested in coming to have a look. You can either reply to this blog or Mintimail one of us privately, and let us know if there are any days that you are unavailable.
(this will be our first so please bear with us - we will be VERY nervous) |

is there a cure ??????
I duck behind the wheel of my car everytime I see one
Today when driving the boys we passed an Ambulance, I tried to not react........but failed. and heard my cheeky 10 year old in the back laughing, he proceeded to show me the rude hand gestures he had been making to the Ambulance !!!! LOL.... oops sorry for laughing
You all know why I am scared of them but does anyone have any visual or breathing techniques I can practise to get over this ???? |

Thanks for the invite! I hope I can add to the info! i am constantly called by friends ina panic as their local hospital wont give any answers due to poliitical correctness ...read fear of being sued! I think that if you have a reasonable knowledge of first aid and training in this area plus a knowledge of the procedures followed by medical professionals the information given will be fairly correct...but if in doubt..always go with professional advice! Great idae thanks for the invite!

is this the first "first aid group' here? what took so long!!!
congrats on placing the infant CPR up front!
im a certified first aid as well although its always good to have a refresher now and again!( although me thinks mine as expired lol)
home/alternative remedies are always good to know, the more the better!
hopefully this group will educate/empower us to be informed individuals when administering first aid or home/alternative remedies.

Thanks for inviting me to this group. I am a certified first aider, so feel free to ask me any questions. Let me know what subjects everyone is most interested in, like what to do about sprains and i'll post a bit of info. Cath |
