Hello

by hrs2004Comment Published at 06:4506:4517 comments17 comments114 Visits114 VisitsReport
  • My name is Helen
  • I do have a middle name (see Matt's post) and it begins with an R, hence my user names HRS2004. That doesn't stand for how many hours I have spent online at Minti (as my boyfriend seemed to think!)
  • I have two sweet kids - Leala (pronounced Lee-la) is 2 1/4, and Nyle is 8 months. Leala is happy, mischievious and very independent. Nyle is the happiest, smiliest boy. Both are great (I'm not biased!)
  • I am "living in sin" with Nick, but we don't seem to find as much time as we like for the "sin" part - we may as well just get married!
  • I am off work on maternity leave until January next year, when I go back to work part-time to teach adults at a large organisation.
  • I love to read, mostly crime and thriller and I hate horror - too many scary things in real life to read about it for fun.
  • I spend far too much time online and my boyfriend would agree wholeheartedly with that statement. However, it keeps me sane and I have found some great sites (like this one) and saved a fortune using different cash back, freebie and shopping sites.
  • I can't seem to sit down and do nothing, ever. I end up getting involved in projects or courses or just doing something all the time. If I am sitting down with a cup of tea I need to at least read something - in dire emergencies I read ingredients lists!
  • We have just had builder's move  in (almost) to do some building work, so we will be living on a building site probably almost until Christmas (gulp). I think I will be making lots of cups of tea. We would normally do a fair bit of the work ourselves, but having taken ten years to do up our last place and now with the little ones, we are handing it over to someone else
  • Enough about me for now - I can get boring!

Hi Helen

I have been trying to work out your name. I was even trying to work it out in my dreams. Yes , I dream about Minti, Doesn't everyone? I can rest easy now. I really like your avatar. It is a beautiful photo. I also liked your original one too. When I first saw it I thought here is a really nice person. With all the things you do I can't imagine you being boring.

You are NOT boring
I know what you mean about always doing - even reading a cereal box - sounds like me.
I think the net is great cos I don't get out much when hubby is at work 12 hours of the day and I am home with my 3 crazy (though beautiful) kids. I think I saved money and I have lost weight being online. Ihave also been able to interact with likeminded ppl.

Holla Helen! I love reading crime and thrileer book too...and chick flick . I used to read John Grisham but had no time anymore now . At the end of the nite I just crash in bed, or watch movie with hubby in bed. Regarding builder, don't forget to make lots of photos....we did that when we renovated our place....was great for a laugh.

Have taken a few photos already - I will have to try and keep up to date. At our last place, I kept pieces of carpet and wallpaper in a folder along with the photos. You would not believe what 1970's carpet looked like!

Hi Ally - I'm pleased to be getting the house improved at the moment, but I might have changed my mind a month down the line...!

Hi Helen,

my husband and I have done soooooo much work on our house before Hayden was born.  Now I can't even manage to keep it clean...well okay I do the occasional dusting with the baby wipe(my new favorite).   Shhh don't tell my hubby cause he thinks I do stuff like "real" cleaning when he's at work!  I love reading too and finally can stay up past Hayden's bedtime to do it cause she's not waking me up every hour anymore(only every 2)ha ha.  I'm interested in those sites your talking about...I like to save money too!or mabey I'm just cheap..ha!  P.S- Stay "living in sin" it's sounds so much more fun (even if it really isn't)

Hi Helen,

Hi Trishy Swishy. Yep, I remember cleaning. Fortunately, my other half thinks that spending a whole day with the kids is so much hard work, he is amazed I just manage to get through the day and doesn't expect any cleaning! I don't want to tell him that it isn't that bad and I'd get much more done if I left the computer in a locked room...

We have been together nearly 14 years now, and despite the odd chat, no wedding on the horizon. Maybe next year?

Hi Helen!

I never thought of being online as a sanity keeper, but you're right. I agree!

Hi Helen!
It IS a sanity keeper. Specially if we're a full time stay home mom. Gosh, I'd be crazy without internet (since I'm not a phone talker person).

Hi Helen!
I am sure that the Internet helps keep me (almost) normal. I can only phone so many friends during the day, yet when I am online I feel I can find loads with just a few clicks. How can that be beaten?

Hello
Remodeling sounds like such a positive term. It's not one used over here. Maybe that's because it seems more like demolition than anything as sweet as "remodeling"!  They say that if the weather holds it should be done by early November, but I guess we will have to wait and see!
