Teething Boys

by cathbusymumComment Published at 17:5717:573 comments3 comments8 Visits8 VisitsReport

Ok well I have only had girls before and already there are major differences in just six months! He is a lot more whingy then any of the girls even his twin sister. They are so quiet by comparison! Now the twins are teething.

He whinges day and night and hardly lets up! His sister sits there next to him quietly teething away LOL So is it just him or boys in general that are more whingy?? He's driving me nuts lol He wants constant attention unless he's sleeping! Although he is a loving little boy, I need to rest my arms LOL

For mothers of Boys.. I have a question...

by cassaustinComment Published at 14:5414:549 comments9 comments35 Visits35 VisitsReport

This is a strange sort of Q for me to be asking. I feel like i am betraying my boy somehow, but i gotta know LOL...

The past 3 mornings, when i have changed Austin's nappy, he has had a baby erection...  Im not too sure if this is normal or what... I also dont know whether i should be putting the nappy back on straight away, or leaving it off for a while and dodging incase he pees on me...

He doesnt seem worried by it, just tries to play with it (as usual)

What i want to know, is if it is normal, and does anyone know why baby's get erections???

Thanks xoxox

Hi I am a new group member

by bindi1Comment Published at 00:3800:383 comments3 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport

Hi there,

I am the blessed mum of 2 incredible boys Charlie 13yrs and  Christopher 9 yrs.  How lucky are we to have these unusual beings to raise and nurture.  But I am yet to figure out what makes them tick. As the only female in the house it can really feel like a mars and venus thing.  I sometimes really don't get them  I thought it would be great to join a group of parents that related to all this and share your experiences and advise.

All my friends have girls, and they have no idea and cannot comprehend what it's like to have a boy. After seeing my son, I think they are actually afraid of them!

Ahhhhh, I feel at easae now. I'm in like company!

Can boys Focus?

by Domestic-warriorComment Published at 21:2821:282 comments2 comments15 Visits15 VisitsReport

Has anyone had problems with their Sons' not being able to focus on the task at hand, especially at school?  I'm sure this is a problem not isolated to boys but was just wondering if you have had this in your own family or immediate family and if so, how did you find out, what did you do about it and was there a clinical/medical reason for it?

Curious.

HELP!

by AZMomComment Published at 07:2507:254 comments4 comments27 Visits27 VisitsReport

My little darling (23 months) has started with the screaming thing again.  Whenever we do or say something he doesn't like/wants (like changing his diaper)  he starts screaming at full volume until he is bright red in the face... and then some. He started this about a year ago, I ignored it and after a week it stopped, unfortunately it does not appear to be working this time. Last night we went to a restaurant and he started screaming again, I tried diverting his attention but was not really successful with that either.

At home I have tried to reason with him by acknowledging that he is frustrated and trying to get him to talk to me (he is not talking too well though either) I have tried ignoring it or when it gets really bad I have put him in time-out. It does seem to be getting worse though

If anyone can provide any help (apart from ear plugs) at all I would greatly appreciate it! We will be taking a 15 hour flight in 2 weeks and I really want to try to nip it in the bud before then (lol I am seeking a miracle!)

Shitty Sleep habits

by HarrisonsMommyComment Published at 06:5506:5511 comments11 comments33 Visits33 VisitsReport

Well, Harrison  in the morning and not wanting to go back to sleep.  He is happy and quiet if I am in his room and rubbing his back or even just standing there.  But I go to leave and the water works start.  I leave his room and he cries.  If I close the door, he just gets up and follows me.

I have made the mistake of giving in and letting him come into bed with me when dean is away (is just so much easier) but it isn't like he goes right to sleep.  He lays there playing with his binky/dummy flipping around, saying hi mommy, and when he has had enough, says all done.  This morning, I was practically yelling at him to lay down and go to sleep-we were in the spare bedroom.

It was the rain last night that woke him up so that was the excuse there.  but  normally, it is seemingly nothing.

I am at my wits end with what to do with him.  It doesn't seem that he really wants me or to be in my bed, just that he can't sleep and wants a friend.  I don't know what the hell to do.  And at 0430, I am tired and tend to go the easy route...

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Advice please

by kseersComment Published at 19:5019:503 comments3 comments17 Visits17 VisitsReport

Do any seasoned mothers of boys have any tips as to how I can stop him tipping everything out to get at one item.  Yesterday my son pulled the whole linen cupboard out as he was looking for soemthing that is not even in the linen cupboard, then he got every pair of pjs out cause he wanted a specific pair (batman)  I don't even know why every hat, scarf and glove they own was also on the floor.  Then to top it off, he climbed up the fridge to get the camera down and dropped it in the process - grrrr.....

Help

by Domestic-warriorComment Published at 19:1219:1210 comments10 comments21 Visits21 VisitsReport

I've just heard the words....."It's funny when i put sandwich in his hair".  That's great, lets not EAT the sandwich lets rub it in our brothers hair!!

This is what my one year old is up to at the moment:

Running - usually straight for the stairs when someone has left the gate open....

Climbing - usually climbing on the dinning table and throwing my folded laundry everywhere.....

Reaching Up High - usually groping for something on the kitchen bench and pulling it off....like a knife or plate..

Standing - usually on the oven door to get a better view of the bench...

Jumping - usually on the dishwasher door when my trying to load it...

Being Inquisitive - usually ripping everything out of draws, cupboards, bookcase, but not toy box, and throwing the contents around the room

Typing - usually randomly slamming the keys on the computer when i'm on it....

Sound familiar to anyone? Oh joy, joy!

circumcision

by StaceycridComment Published at 23:3423:347 comments7 comments49 Visits49 VisitsReport

I was wondering about peoples opinion and thoughts about circumcision. I have found it a very touchy subject.

I am not ashamed to say I had both my boys circumcised and am sick of getting "looks" when I change my 2 month olds nappy in front of my local midwives. I believe it is a personal choice, I don't judge people or disrespect people for choosing not to have it done, it is every parents right to choose. I would just like the same respect given to my choice.

Is it going to be another taboo subject parents can't discuss because it could cause conflict? I think its rubbish if we are mature enough to raise children we should be mature enough to have civilised discussion and respect other parents choices.

Sorry for venting but I thought there might be some other mums here who understand. I understand if people don't want to reveal if their boys are done or not. It is very touchy I just needed to express my annoyance.

Hi there,

What a great place to come and vent our "boy" stories lol.  They do seem to be a different breed LOL.   My name is  Stacey and I have 2 boys Jordan who is 2 yrs and 4 months and Tyler who is 8 weeks.  I have already found Jordan to be alot different to most little girls, why is that? lol.  Great idea, great place for advice and stories galore.

Just stumbled across this group

by NgairiComment Published at 23:4223:422 comments2 comments13 Visits13 VisitsReport

I have 3 boys, Dave 16, Alex 15, and Connor 6. Love boys, and never wanted to have a girl (couldn't stand if she turned out like I was).

Boys are beyond the range of anybody's sure understanding, at least when they are between the ages of 18 months and 90 years.

What is genius? - It is the power to be a boy again at will.

Does any ideas how i can get my son to stop undoing his nappy so he can play with his penis? Seriously, he is obsessed! I get that it is normal and natural... But as soon as the nappy comes off, his hand is straight down there. LOL I found his in his cot the other day with his pants and nappy off.. thank god there was no mess to clean up!!
