for 5 minutes whilst the young man working for the emergencies services speaks to her in such a deconscending way. he even had the audacity to suggest that it was a suicide he concluded this because the poor mother said her son had gone to bed and had heard mnoices from his room.
The mother rang for an ambulance and clearly asked for an ambulance however the phone dispatcher kept asking questions. up to that point nothing wrong with that but when she said she wasnt in his bedroom and cant determine what has happened he kept badgering her for answerd, claiming he couldnt just send out an ambulance and report to the paramedics that he couldnt ascertain the cause.
he then went on making assumptions after the mother admitted her son had a couple of glasses or so to drink. he then asked if their was a gun in the house. the mother said no. then the person on the line wanted to know if she still wanted an ambulance!!! well hello that is what the poor woman had been saying from the very beginning the mother is gettoing anxious even to the point where she tellls the guy speak to him yourself maybe he can telll you what has happened
The victim is unable to say what has happened except he woke up. he feels funny. he is asked which room he is in and the guy says he cant see he is not sure. then the mum goes back to the room .
she is given instructions to keep his door unlocked and to keep an eye on him at all times. she was told an ambulance will be dispatched to call back if he gets worse!!!!
the ambulance had not arrived until one hour later by that stage the poor woman (keep in mind she is 80 and frantic and i forgot to mention had said her son has never been like this she has never seen him like this)
private transportation had to be organised .
apparently hher son had suffered 2 strokes has lost his job because he will never read again. (im not sure to what degree he lost his sight)
this happened in wynnum queensland.
the poor woman got a letter of apology from the anmbulance association see channel 9 friday august 28 2009 msn on computer
what does a big fat apology letter do?
what is the first thing we are told to do if you suspect someone having a stroke
ring an ambulance (too bad if you dont recognise the symptoms)
do people have to start lying to get resuls ?!!! this dispatcher obviously had no clue sounded very unsympathetic and i dont care how busy they are i certainly hope he is no longer working there. whilst they arent perfect if you arent sharp enough to have what it takes and to asseess a situation without going off tangent and making assumptions where you only think one way then you dont deserve to be in such a stressful job
annie
i will try to add this (im just learning the ropes )
