Swap sides

by KathrynR1402Comment Published at 15:0515:052 comments2 comments13 Visits13 VisitsReport

I suspect that my 19 month is just power crazed, but I thought I would see if this has happened to anyone else, or if you can hazard a guess as to why she's doing it (other than because she can)?

Soph has discovered how to ask me to swap her from one breast to the other (she flings herself up and down in a head banging action while saying "ddd ddd" or attempts a "sss" sound).

Problem is, she can swap sides every couple of minutes, which is annoying. After a few swaps I will usually tell her "no more swap sides" and try to stick to it. Sometimes she accepts that, sometimes she doesnt.

So, power crazed, foremilk addict, am I running low, any ideas?

Re: Swap sides

Don't know!  R used to swap all the time - I think he just liked the gushing of the foremilk as he didn't have to suck.  B would suck for a while then say "side" and change sides - now she is just feeding off one side though, obviously her favourite.  Maybe she likes the taste of the foremilk or the power of having a say, who knows??  Good luck sorting it out!

Re: Swap sides

Thanks Kath! There is some comfort in knowing someone else has/had a child who did this! I just dont remember it with Em. She hasnt swapped much the last few nights, so maybe the craze has passed. Or maybe not!
