This weekend I just tried putting my youngest daughter into pigtails. Wouldn't be so off-kilter if she just held still

My daughter is 2 and a half, and so far the experience is fabulous. Everyone keeps reminding me that daughters always love their dads more, and that's been my experience. As long as you can leave your inhibitions behind you--especially when your daughter picks out your dolly and wants to brush your hair--then the only hard part has been learning to put her hair into a pony-tail.

I'm expecting the tough part to start close to her teens.

I've noticed that when talking with other parents, the guys are just like anybody else but when they learn that you both have a daughter it's like an opening up and ability to relax and talk on similar terms! 

I think there's a lot of trying to figure out how to let yourself get caught up with this girl's interest and yet stay, well, masculine. So finding somebody else going through it is very comforting. At the very least you can swap "pretend-tea-party" ideas !
